Iron Warriors and a Hellbore, rules question.

Post subject:  Iron Warriors and a Hellbore, rules question.
I'm trying to point an Iron Warrior Century with Hellbore Transport.
Tried 850 and it seemed way too low.
My Iron Warriors are not for purists. Hellbore transport is the main sticking point at this moment.

Any ideas?

Hi!

You want a "guesstimated" point cost in the vein of the original points scheme?

Because Magnus' formula could probably cost this pretty accurately, however that is if you using the formula for all units, not just this one.

Otherwise you "guesstimate" is as good as anyone's. ;)

Well,

I'm not adverse at all to using Magnus' point system but he doesn't have the IW up yet. at least not last time I checked. Nor is the Hellbore up as a separate entity by my recollection.

I'll check.

Correct, I have not gotten around to the Iron Warriors yet. It probably wouldn't take me long to do them up, so now that I know there is interest I'll see if I can get to that soon. It may be a few days to a week or so though, as I'm very busy at work these days.

The Hellbore does have it's own "model cost" listed in the Guard and Squat army list threads. It does not show that way in the comparison document that primarch is doing, as he is just listing actual formations and not the individual model costs. However, since the Hellbore would have it's own BP and VP, the model cost would just be added to the cost of the IW troop stands and HQ to find the formation value.

A quick and dirty way to approximate what the cost of an IW Company with a Hellbore for Gold would be to compare the values of the Guard Hellbore Company to a Mechanized Tactical Company. Subtract the cost of the Mech Tactical from the cost of the Hellbore Company, and you have a rough value of the cost of replacing the transports with the Hellbore. Then add that value to the cost of an IW Company, replacing their transports with the Hellbore. Adjust BP appropriately, and you should be good to go.
