The Lord of Change casts his bolt at the start of the Advance segment. Can he do this even if he has just fought a round of close combat? Usually CC prevents units doing anything further, but in this case I can see both sides of the argument.

An interesting question Bissler.

As a command unit, the Lord of Change would be entitled to fire in the first fire phase, but still assault. The Bolt of Change, however, is an advance phase ranged attack. It would seem to me that the command rule would allow the Lord of Change to fight in close combat and make a ranged attack, but it might be worth making this more explicit if others also think that it's open to interpretation.

Hi!

I would rule that if the lord of change was pinned in close combat it could not fire. Or course this would need a unit of knight class or higher to do so, but that is fair since a lowly infantry stand or vehicle would not be enough to pin it and not let it use its bolt.

But what if The Lord of Change has just fought CC and won? Can it still fire the bolt of change?

Hi!

If the element it"killed" was capable of pinning it, no it could not. If the element it eliminated could not pin it then it could.

The concept of "pinning classes" was made to address such issues. A model that is pinned is supposed to be fully engaged and thus have its options narrowed to surviving CC.

A lord of change could ignore any infantry and vehicles easily, but if a knight or titan engages it, that is a "worthy foe". Surviving such a CC is its own "reward".
