Hi guys

I've got a couple of questions:

1) First one came up in a recent game - the Mega Gargant's turrets have two ranges listed in the Ork book, 50cm and 75cm - does anybody know what they're supposed to be? I've tried finding an old datacard online but there isn't one of a high enough resolution to see.

2) What happens when a deep striking Space Marine Drop Ship lands on an enemy unit? The rules for deep striking say to check the unit description, but there's nothing there. My thinking is to modify the rules for Drop Pods to represent the increased size, say a -4 or -5 TSM, and it's fine if lands on a superheavy or smaller. Sound reasonable?

Thanks a lot!

Hi!

1. Geez! I've tried to quash that typo for over a decade and it STILL lives!!! :{[]

They are 75cm range.

2. You mean purposefully land a drop ship on units? Drop pods land randomly and can't help landing on stuff. A drop ship is piloted, so what would it land on a unit?

I'm gonna have to think this one through....

re: 2)

It's not intentionally landing on units, it's from the scatter when deep striking.

Although thinking about it, does it not actually land at that point? It could just be deep striking into the atmosphere. I just assumed it worked like a huge drop pod that could take off again, but maybe I'm wrong about that.

Hi!

The way the rules for deep strike read you select a point within 20cm of the first scatter then scatter them again. I would say the drop ship should always be placed in a manner that doesn't place it over another unit first.

If this is unavoidable use the rules for drop pods but increase the TSM by one.

Okay, further question that arose from planning out an IG army -

In a Space Marine list there are 2 Land Speeder variants listed, for the same price as 5 regular land speeders you only get 3 of the variants, but in the IG list the same variants cost the same as the regular ones (200 for 5).

Is this correct? Should the IG only get 3, or should the Marines get 5?

Hi!

I believe its a typo and it should be 3 like the space marines.

I was pretty sure we made the Dropship a flyer and not a deep striking unit.

It's a flier with the Deep Strike rule as per the current Marine 'codex', unless you're talking about a change made after? Is there a list of NetEpic errata anywhere?

Do not mix up Marine dropship and Imperial dropship

Can a unit use any special abilities whilst in a transport? I'm thinking specifically Space Marines, namely a Librarian's powers, a Chaplain's Combat Leader, and an Apothecary's Medic?

Hi!

No. Mainly because we found that being mobile magnified the units efficacy by orders of magnitude. Granted we brandied about the possibility of MOBILE units of the same type, but the cost would be significantly higher (but perhaps worth it).

Perhaps this should be revisited. Now that I am "back", I'm feeling that another revision is due. I will wait however until I am playing some games again so as to re-familiarize myself with the rules.

I think with the current "crew" of net epic fans a revision where more "sacred cows" can be sacrificed in pro of more modern (but still flavorful) mechanics could be popular.

We'll see. :)

Here, here :D :D
I think we are in a good place to have a new look at the rules and army lists.
We have a very good base line to allow people to keep playing, but it is also gives us room to improve and tweak.
I suspect people have already seen and read some of my views about the current game and some improvements that can be looked at ;)
We just need to find the right balance between old and new.

Maybe I'm being blind, but I can't see the stats for the IG Stormtroopers. Are they in there?

I don't see them either.

Hi!

Like I said the revision is old. I don't think that IG stormtroopers were even a thing back then. Just to put things in perspective, looking at the yahoo group the revision ended in either late 2002 or early 2003.

So its 10 to 11 years old. A lot has changed in 40k lore as far as available units in that time frame.

Both of you are making a good argument for another revision pointing this out. :)

Once the titan XP rules and such are ironed out, I'll start a thread to discuss doing this amongst other things. From my point of view things re looking a bit "dated".
