Hi,
my friends and me have played a planetary assault scenario last saturday and there were some landas on the table. It appears that the rule description for the landa are not very clear at all and we had some questions.
Here are the rule (without the fluff part):
NetEpic Gold Rule Book wrote:
Landas may Deep Strike and land in any Compulsory Movement Phase. Place the model anywhere on the table, and roll both the Scatter and Artillery dice. Once on the ground, Landas may not move again and act as fire support for local troops. They are Independent, and are destroyed if they fail a Morale check. They may transport 7.
Here are the problems we met:
1) Does the landa follow exactly the deep strike ability and after the landing point of each landa is determined, you roll the artillery and scatter dice for an extra deviation ?
2) Landa is in flyer class so we supposed the to-hit penalty to shot at it while deep striking applied ?
3) What is the order of the landa the turn it reaches the ground ? First Fire (special order for a flyer that lands), Advance ? Can the landa use its weapons the turn it lands ?
4) Description says they are independent and are destroyed if the fail a morale check. Even if the landa is within a nobz command radius ?
5) What happen when the landa falls on a building/titan/praetorian/superheavy/etc...Standard save, a -3 TSM hit, something else ?
Some other questions for Orks:
6) We were surprised that the Gutbuster Ball Round firing mode is not "destroy" buildings. I check in the previous codexes (down to 4.1) and this ability is missing. Is it a voluntary ?
Many thanks for your future clarifications

Hi!
1. Yes, follow the procedure for deep strike units.
2. Yes. Unlike say terminators which you cant see coming, its obvious that the landers are coming in, but they are still flyers and get the shooting penalty when firing at it, except AA units of course.
3. If your using them to deep strike then assume first fire orders, since they "land"
4. If there is a "nob" in command radius then no. Independent morale failure rules apply to units outside command radius.
5. If it falls on anything under its pinning classs that unit is destroyed. Equal or higher take one hit at -3 penalty.
6. An omission. One of the primary reasons to use the ball is to mow down buildings!! Remember the building gets a save, but is destroyed if it fails regardless of structural points left.
Great questions by the way.
