Right, so I figured it might be a good idea to post a rough schedule for the NetEpic Gold project, as this will give people a bit of time to paint up stuff and prepare submissions for the book.

Overall it is the plan to have everything ready by this summer. I hope this is achievable, but it will only be possible if sufficient images for some of the more obscure armies can be found (Slann and Sisters Of Battle in particular).

The Schedule:

February:
Eldar book - Ready for proof reading by the 15th. Proofreading deadline early March.
Adeptus Mechanicus - Ready for proofreading early March.

March:
Squats - Proofreading mid/late March. Proofreading deadline late march/early April.

April: Tyranids or Tau

May: Tyranids or Tau

June: Slann/Necron

July: Adeptus Ministorum (Sisters Of Battle)

August-ish: Final proofreading overhaul of all books.

The two most problematic armies are probably the Slann and the Sisters of Battle. In terms of the Slann we need to figure out how to handle the huge ammount of proxy miniatures used. There's some IP issues, which are easily solved by not including any miniatures from other manufacturers. HOWEVER I need a sound alternative of what to use instead: If we're going for scratch built stuff I need to know that I can have a fully scratch built Slann army built, painted and photographed by June. Alternatively we could use illustrations of each unit, but that is also quite an undertaking. Finally it is of course also possible to explore exactly what IP problems are associated with using proxy miniatures for stuff GW doesn't produce, nor include in their current background (Slann has disappeared from curent GW fluff anyway).

The Sisters of battle I'm holding off to the very last, since I'm hoping certain forum members will have finished their excellent scratch built/printed models by then. I see no problems including such models in the books as they're really just scratch builds made using different techniques than the regular plasticard or greenstuff approach.

I've got proxies lined up for a lot of the Sisters list using GW models already (though infantry is very thin), and Warhead did heaps of excellent conversions for the Sisters and Frateris infantry again using GW stuff as a basis.  If we get totally stuck I have used Justiniels old "conversion from Space Marines article" to make a few stands of Sisters.  I could just sling a H-Bolter from a Squat Thunderer across one for a heavy stand.

I have a full True Slann army ready but the only GW component on all of it are the bases.  I know one member here did one using various plastic Epic dreads as the infantry battlesuits and I guess you could paint some Slaanesh knights in a shiny green colour to proxy for the Knight class units.  A couple of the old lumpy RT era 40K Dreads might work for the titans if anyone has any.  Exodus Slann and Dracon (Lizardmen) could use some of the stuff made for the Eldar Exodites and maybe stuff from the Warmaster range.  Necrons should be sufficiently easy to do with scratchbuilds, chaos androids and 40K plastic scarabs.

If the SOB stuff I sent aren't any good then let me know what you need or how you want the pictures to be taken. Use plane English please.

If we can push the Tau a little later in the schedule I'll try and get the Codex a bit more balanced with some playtesting as well as try and get my minis painted an photographed.

Alright: With the boards back online, let's get this train rolling again :)

Obviously we've been a bit delayed due to the forum downtime. We still need that Eldar book proofread, so I'll look through the old errattathread and implement all the changes I can find. If there's any further changes please let me know ASAP so we can move on.

While the boards were down I've also been working on the Adeptus Mechanicus book. Almost done (Just the Imperator Titan Datacard missing really), so expect that ready for proofreading in a few days as well.

I've been rather busy at Uni in the past month too, so unfortunately I haven't had time to do much work on the Squat book yet. My guess is that our entire schedule has slipped about a month.

I'd be happy to send some photos of my Tau if they would be helpful.
Just PM me if they are needed.

Cheers.

Warmaster Nice

If by proof-reading you mean checking for spelling errors or gramatical mistakes, I am sure I can give it a go. Just let me know where I can download the books.

I would be interested to also see the 'Slaan' rules - my initial thought is that the old Ork minis may substitute if effectively transformed or painted. Depends on the units and weapons available.

Let me know

Thanks

Cheers Frogbear, that'd be great :)
Yup. That too. The Word documents I've been working from should have been proof read already, but there's always a chance that errors get overlooked, and a few odd things may also happen when I copy/paste from the original document into the new layout.
The really big issue though are the tables at the back of the book. Since these can't be copy/pasted directly there's a good chance that errors sneak in there.

As always: If some graphic stuff looks weird please do post that as well. Some thing may just be display bugs, but with such a massive project, there's still a good chance that I've overlooked something somewhere :)

The proofreading (and download links) are confined to the individual proof reading threads for each book on these boards. The Eldar book is still open for proofreading, but I'd like to wrap that one up very soon, so please have a look through the thread for areas that have already been checked. I haven't updated the document yet, so the errors are still there and it'd be kind of a waste if you spent your energy looking through stuff that has already been done :)

The Adeptus Mechanicus should be up for proofreading by the weekend.

Good thinking regarding the Slann. The DRM Kraytonians would be perfect, but the whole IP thing is a bit problematic.

Didnt know where to post it but...

browsing through the Ork book I noticed that someone has made nice banners for orks and printed them out and glued em on.
It would be awesome if we could have some such images included in respective codex book (if anyone with half an artistic mind feels like doing some that is as Im quite clueless ^_^).

Fabbo! My regular AM opponent will love you long time!

Out of interest are the Russ companies still 750 compared to the 550 IG ones?

Some of my Orks have printed banners. The main issue here being the resolution of your printer and paper type you print on. I don't think this should be much of an isse on most modern printersthough... but it were when I did it. For such small banners I'd go for higher resolution than the 300 dpi that is standard for a publication such as this, so maybe a compilation of printable banners available seperately would be a good idea? My own banners were printed at 600 dpi IIRC, but unfortunately I don't think I got the original file anymore :S
