Hive Mind Cards are very powerfull if they are well-used. I think it's a bad idea to let a 4.000 pts tyranid army have easily 5 cards. That's why I propose to come back to the dominatrix with only 5 Hive Mind Points instead of the actual 10 HMP from the 5.2 tyranid rules book. |

10 HMP gets you exactly 2 cards. It is conceivable that you could get 5 cards (25 HMPs) in a 4000 point army but you would be heaviliy loaded with Synapse critters. The fact that the Dominatrix gives you 2 cards is factored into her 500 points....she wouldn't be worth it if she only had 5 HMP IMO. |

Having 2 dominatrix is not a problem in a 4.000 pts army. Moreover in 5.000 or 6.000 pts army. Domi have a very good synapse radius and is enough powerfull (if you use energy pulse) or resistant (if you use warp field) to worth 500 pts. With 2 domi, you can take lesser other synapse creatures. So it's not a problem to have 1.000 pts in 2 domi. But 20 Hive Mind points that you are almost sure to have in the beggining of the 2nd turn considering the resistance of your domi, give too much powerfull Hive Mind Cards. |

I think the Dominatrix is a pretty weak unit for 500 points. Two detachments of Exocrine get you double the firepower, or a titan gets a much more dangerous unit that is harder to kill. If you want to burn a quarter of your points on 2 Domanatrix to get extra cards do so, but your army will be much weaker for it. |

How could you get 2 dominatrix in a 3000-5000 points game ? They are limited to 1 per 3000 points...Unless you play a 6K game, there can't be 2 dominatrix. From Tyranid Codex 5.2 page 3 (just over Optional Rule blocks) Quote: Dominatrix: All Swarms must include at least one Dominatrix, but no more than one per 3,000 points. With this dominatrix limitation, the regen card will be very helpful for the tyranid player ![]() |

Quote: All Swarms must include at least one Dominatrix, but no more than one per 3,000 points. Is that new too? I meant it was something like that: 1-3000 Pt 1 Domi 3001-6000 Pt 2 Domi 6001-9000 Pt 3 Domi and so on With 3000 Pt or more you will need 2 Domis to build up useful swarms or you have to take a lot of hive tyrants and tyranid warriors to attach all swarm cards But maybe there are new rules too ![]() PS.: I meant swarm cards in my frist post here |

Dominatrix limitation is the same since SM/TL and NetEpic tyranid codex 4.1. PS: welcome back onboard Zap123 ![]() |

No more than one per 3.000 pts with a little board precising this : 1-3000 Pt -> 1 Domi 3001-6000 Pt -> 2 Domi 6001-9000 Pt -> 3 Domi and so on |

There are two Tyranid players still kicking around down here, and I play Bugs once in a while too.  We typically play 4-5000 points and I cant remember seeing 2 Dominatrix in an army.  I have two Doms painted but never take the second one....though I guess I would if we played a huge game.  It's still pretty easy to control the swarms with Tyrants, Queens and Tyranid warriors.  Titans and Genestealers are independant, and there are lots of units you just dont try and keep under control anyway (Rippers, Trygons!) though it is easier now with the Winged Tyrant if you want to.  I find it is usually most important to make sure you control your nesters so they can pick important targets |

If I played Nids (which was not very often) I tried to build up specialized swarms one with most fire support units one with close assault units and spore pods and so on Thats easier with more Domis Sometimes I get even problems to attach all cards to a swarm due to not enough space I have only 2 Hive tyrants and 4 warrior units But I missed some units I think; Queen, winged tyrant, rippers Whats a Queen? ![]() |

You can use old SM/TL hyve tyrant as a tyranid queen as they are bigger than E:40K ones. |

Ahh yes I remember the SM/TL were one per blister the Epic 40k ones were 3 per blister and smaller right? |

Yes. The same way, you can use SM/TL Carniflex as razorflex. |
