Here's the Chaos book so far. There's still a few graphic snags I'm not completely happy about. I might go back and change the look of the unit description boxes, and there's a few missing images. The text itself however has now all been transferred, so I figured we might as well get the proof reading going. I don't expect there to be as many problems as the previous books as this one has been made directly from the latest NetEpic file. However areas such as tables are always causing problems so if anything sneaks in I think the army cards and unit stat tables are the most likely candidates.

I'll leave it up for proofing while I work on the IG book. Luckily that is another of the books where most of the "dirty work" has already been done, so the process should be relatively quick. I hope this break will be enough to let me return to the Chaos book with a fresh pair of eyes and solve the remaining graphic issues.

Shoot away :)

Move this line slightly down.

Weapon choices: Chain Fist, Death Storm, Doom Burner, Hell Blade

Add a - between 1-2.. This is the case on page 36,37,38,39 & 41
Example
Quote:

1 2 Head weapon destroyed. First Fire Orders mandated next turn.
1 2 Reactor shielding destroyed. CAF and weapon ranges halved.
5 6 The titan crashes to the ground as a result of the explosions. Decide randomly which way the Titan falls. Any vehicles or troop stands that are fallen on are destroyed.
5 6 Reactor explodes! The Titan is removed from the game. Any vehicles or troop stands within 3D6 cm are automatically hit, and must make an unmodified save to avoid destruction.

Page 28: Looks like some double spacing probably word fixing it likr that dont know what it is called. But perhaps a rephrasing can fix it.

Quote:

Defiler: These twisted daemon engines are part dreadnought, part walker, part tank and all dangerous. They feature in Chaos Marine armies as an alternative to the Heresy era battle tanks. These versions usually mix a blend of long range firepower with dangerous close combat weapons.

Went through the book and all in all there are few errors although as in all texts you can find more if you just take the time.

Just jumping in with some grammar edits.

Page 3, Paragraph 3:
Quote:

The great rend in space now called the Eye of Terror that was once home to the heart worlds of the Eldar.

Delete the underlined word and add the bolded one.

Page 3, Paragraph 4:
Quote:

according to their desires. Thus there

Replace the period with a semicolon and lowercase "Thus" accordingly.

Page 3, Paragraph 5:
Quote:

Armies of daemons and their living allies fight vast, bloody battles lasting for hundreds of years, where entire worlds becomes little more than vast arenas

This is just personal preference, but swap one of the bolded ones to another "big" word. "Colossal" is always a favorite.

Page 4, Paragraph 4:
Quote:

If you ally with an Imperial force, it is assumed to be corrupted or traitor and therefore a Chaos force itself,

Add the bolded word.

Page 5, Special Rule 1:
Quote:

For example, AIs and robots have no emotions and are unaffected by powers that depend on fear or lust, Inorganic beings are likewise immune to diseases and so on.

The underlined word doesn't need be be uppercased.

Page 5, Paragraph 1:
Quote:

giving Chaos players’ three very distinct styles of army to play

The underlined apostrophe should be deleted.

Page 5, Paragraph 1:
Quote:

Rather than separate the units into army lists with lots of overlap and no room to mix & match (which IMHO is the essence of Chaos),

Here's another personal preference. To me, this reads like you guys feel a structured, by-the-books army is the essence of Chaos. Adding it to the end of the sentence, where players are encouraged to create lists suiting the needs and whims of the moment, would be perfect.

That's all the time I have for now. Five pages down, 55 to go...

By the way, the layout and art looks fantastic!

Ok, I've only read the first 20 pages, here is what i've noted:

*Page 12: no pictures for the blood reaper (maybe norma)

*some of TSM are noted "1 TSM" or "2 TSM", I think "-1 TSM" is clearer (for exemple the lord of change power description page 19 have "-1 TSM", and there is sometime positive TSM...)
Exemple without the "-" Breath of nurgle page 15, nurgle magi page 14, great unclean one page 13 (this one have written "save modifier", not tsm).

*Page 17: no pictures for slaanesh Magi (maybe normal)

Will try to read the rest as soon as I can.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The IG book will be up for proofreading this weekend and then I'll implement the eratta you suggested to the Chaos book.

BTW: Is is really impossible to get hold of a pic of Chaos Androids? Even painted up as Necrons would be good :p :D

I'll implement the collected erratta in the next couple of days. This is the last chance to have changes made untill Gold is completely done, so if you spot any more errors I need to know before Christmas

The missing pictures are intentional: Noone have offered anything for these and I haven't been able to find any other suitable pics anywhere :)

As for the TSM thing: I'm not really sure about these. It is definitely not consistant and I suspect that some of them may indeed be positive to hit modifiers. However since I'm not really sure which are positive and which are negative we need some of the more rules savvy people to give it a look and make specific recommendations.

Apart from that all the suggested eratta has now been added. I'll leave this running for a few more days before closing the file and updating the download link :)

Thanks for the help thus far. Any further erratta is most welcome.

All suggested erratta has been implemented with the exception of the Save Modifier confusion mentioned by Napalm. Could some of the rules-guys please have a quick look through the unit descriptions for a quick overview of what needs to be + and - modifiers?

The file will remain open for further changes untill 23/12 whereafter it will be closed and no further changes made untill we're ready for print.

PS: Stil need a picture of a Chaos Android/Necron stand  :p

On that off-chance you've extended the time limit before changes are no longer accepted. I'll work on this now - otherwise, you can reflect on this when you do make more changes.

Picking up where I left of:
Page 6, Morale Tests vs. Chaos Powers
Quote:

Due to the sheer, unearthly terror that Chaos inspires, any Morale Test taken because of a Chaos effect or unit (Greater Daemons, Chaos Rewards, etc.) will always fail on a roll of “1â€Â

Cheers :)

I'm a bit bombed out due to a christmas party, so it will be a day or two before I get the eratta implemented anywy. If you got time you are more than welcome to find whatever errors your can. Efter that time I will be working on some exams papers untill mid january, so I'd sort of like to have the Chaos ook closed before then and make a fresh start with the Eldar book :)

Added the suggested erratta except:

Quote:

Page 7, Inspire Minions:
Quote:

Any unit that is within 25 cm of a Greater Daemon and has line of sight will automatically pass any Morale Test that it is required to make

The way this is worded, it makes everyone fearless, not just your guys. Think someone already caught this...

Rules guys: Should this be reworded to all CHAOS units? or all units belonging to that particular Chaos Power? (Suggestions for wording please :)

Hrm... doesn't look like I'm gonna be able to do anymore editing on this one for a week or so. I got moved into tents prior to redeployment and there isn't an AC adapter nearby, so I have about two hours total time on this laptop before it dies! Oh, well.
