Post subject: | Some Tau Questions |
Hi all, I played another Tau-test-game(again against myself ![]() and there turned out some questions: may I fire AA-seeker missiles against ground units? max I use AA-seeker missiles for snap fire even if the flyer is on advance? do markerlights suffer from to-hit-penalty(for example: fire a markerlight against a troop stand inside a bouilding do I need a 6+ now?) may I use the markerlights on the Skyray during snapfire? first lightit up then shoot with 3+ may I drop Gundrones from Tigersharks on first fire, since they have jump packs? a Tigershark can perform normally while dropping drones no first fire needed or? do the sha´vre battlesuits(hunter cadre, manta cadre, battelsuit cadre command unit) have the fire-on-the-fly abillity too? in the turn the manta is unloading troops he may not fire, even he has used deep strike this turn right? thanks guys there will be more questions...sure ![]() |

Howdy. Ill try to answer your questions. Quote: may I fire AA-seeker missiles against ground units? YES Quote: may I use AA-seeker missiles for snap fire even if the flyer is on advance? No - If the flyer is on advance then he will move shortly. If he already moved he cant snap. If he snaps he cant move, flyers have to move half speed/turn. Quote: do markerlights suffer from to-hit-penalty(for example: fire a markerlight against a troop stand inside a bouilding do I need a 6+ now?) YES - why not? try to hit a guy in cover with a laser sight. Quote: may I use the markerlights on the Skyray during snapfire? first lightit up then shoot with 3+ Not sure. What do you think? Quote: may I drop Gundrones from Tigersharks on first fire, since they have jump packs? In the rules it says: The Tiger Shark does not have to land to deliver its Drones.. Quote: a Tigershark can perform normally while dropping drones no first fire needed or? I would say yes Quote: do the sha´vre battlesuits(hunter cadre, manta cadre, battelsuit cadre command unit) have the fire-on-the-fly abillity too? The rules say about battlesuits: if equipped with Jump Packs they gain the Fire-on-the-Fly ability. Quote: in the turn the manta is unloading troops he may not fire, even he has used deep strike this turn right? The rules say: "The Manta may unload jumpcapable troops and skimmers while Airborne." As long as you unload troops with jumppacks or skimmers there is no problem as far as I know. If you WANT to land the rules say: "the Manta can transport a full fighting Cadre with support vehicles into battle and deploy them under heavy covering fire." I would say shoot shoot shoot. All from me for now. /Peter |

[QUOTENot sure. What do you think?[/QUOTE] I think it should use it during snap fire it doesn´t make much senes else Quote: The rules say: "The Manta may unload jumpcapable troops and skimmers while Airborne." As long as you unload troops with jumppacks or skimmers there is no problem as far as I know. If you WANT to land the rules say: "the Manta can transport a full fighting Cadre with support vehicles into battle and deploy them under heavy covering fire." I would say shoot shoot shoot. That would be usefull to clear Maybe the manta can do support fire in the turn it landed/unloaded troops because it is special designed for landing operations Tahnks for your quick answers Pettan |

One thing about the markerlights. When I think about how they are used they "light up" an enemy so that others can target them. Since you want to use your markerlight against the target in the snapfire segment then the target can actually hide just after you have made your shot. Right now Im leaning to the "No markerlights in snapfire" category. I think that Juffo-Wup has been working or has thoughts about the markerlights. You can read it here: http://www.tacticalwargames.net/forums/ ... 14;t=16562 He is the mastermind behind the Tau book as far as I know. /Peter |
