The gold rules state: (and also earlier rules I believe)

Quote:

Entering & Leaving: It costs 5 cm of movement to enter or leave a building, in addition to the movement required to get there.

I would think based on this that to enter a building with a troop stand that is 20X20 mm is altogether 7 cm since the stand itself has to move as well. My friends and I haven't used this very long at all. Im not really sure if everyone is abroad or if it is just me.

A move that I have used before a few times in to have a transport on charge and a stand on advance. The stand leaves the Rhino and enters a building and shoots in Advance. If I have to pay 7 cm to enter then this move is illegal. I believe that this is quite important. Another round on shooting for my devastators ain´t to shabby. If illegal it might be better to find a tree line or some rubble.

How do you guys do with this rule? Care to Share?  :hi-yah:

We found it got too picky, -5cm for entering things messed with the way the game played. So in the end we ended up ignoring the penalty for moving into buildings and entrenchments etc for Infantry and only retain the movement penalty for Dreadnoughts/Robots etc of Walker pinning class. Transporting units and movement penalties stayed as per the rules.

It costs 5cm to leave a transport, and 5cm to enter a building, so an infantry stand with 10cm move on Advance has 0 movement left....so they can't do it.  A normal infantry stand would need charge orders to exit a transport and enter a building.

Yes guys. I feel as most of you that its a bit picky buy I feel Zap is right according to the rules.

If a transport is as close to a building as possible maybe it should be allowed to enter the house on advance if he stays right where he entered. In an way its the same thing as leaving a transport. You don't pay another 2 cm movement just to stand there next to the rhino either.

When I leave a transport I deduct 5 cm from his movement. So the stand can move 5 more on advance or 15 on charge. Not 3 more since he already used 2.

In the end it might be better to allow it just as you allow a charge if you don't have the last 5 mm. What doya say about that? :sign1:

@ Ulric, that would be a great idea. Munich? How cheap are plane tickets and B+B these days? You do drink beer I take it?   (I have no money so it's sadly just a dream).

So, I have expended all my move (-5cm getting out of transport and -5cm getting into building...) yet because I have none left I can not get in the building? Are you sure that is correct? I have paid 5cm to get in the building. I should therefore be in the building, so long as there was no additional travel from vehicle to building. Yet another fun killing game drawing-out rule that IMO isn't needed. Maybe the good and helpful rule that states units within 1cm of the enemy are to be considered in close combat can be used to draw the unit into cover. Ok, it's raping the rules but if someone wants to start measuring everything and pointing out silly game pausing things like this then sod the twerp. God enough for them.  :p  Of course you can always hit him with your close assault Warlock Titan next round...

 Of course, you think we would leave you out? If it ever happens then any forum member could go. It would take some organising though. If it ever happened.

Hmm, I wonder what we would require to make something like this work? Suitable venue, nearby accommodation and someone local hint! hint! (*cough!* Ulric! *cough!*) to do the costs and organising. We can cost our own flights.

I notice that the British EA boys seem to do this kind of thing a LOT, maybe asking them for tips would be a good idea too.

I'm strapped for cash (yeah me and like the rest of the entire world) right now but if we're seriously considering this I would be interested at the right price.

hmmm, this is a pretty good idea. If we tried to find a date far ahead, tickets shouldn't be too expensive.

I would definitively be in and help in any way I could with oranizational matters.

so, ulric, what do you say? EPICtoberfest in 2010?
