I have seen in the long expected Goldrules and also in the older version that the Wolfguard units are elite and not command. In the old rules they were HQ meaning they could move and shoot in FF. This ability must have been lost somewhere and I would like to ask why? Today if you make a Space Wolf army the only commandstands you will get is if you buy a separate stand like a Wolf Priest... This will mean that the Space Wolf army will consist of very few command troop stands. In the old rules the Terminator stands had +6 caf and the same HQ ability as any other HQ (now command) unit. Now they have lost the Command ability and are plain-jane HQ:s (cant be targeted) and the Land Raiders are non Command. If you doubt my words, check your old army cards. The Space Wolves are sad to say not as attractive anymore.. /Peter |

yeah, it's true. Was like that in Netepic, too. Space Wolves have become a very hard Chapter to play. No long range firepower, the special abilities downgraded (check the Blood Claws, they do not inflict a complete morale test on anymore), and they are more expensive. poor little cubs  ![]() |

I ignore this rule. I hate the distinction between Command and HQ too. |

The Wolf Guard haven't had Command in a very long time. I guess the authors thought a detachment of Terminators with added HQ and Inspirational for 250 points was pretty decent value already ![]() Command as well would make them a VERY nice unit....I move my Land Raiders 35cm, drop off my Terminators and fire in the First Fire phase....the Terminators move forward 15cm, oh, and they shoot in the First Fire phase too. ![]() |

[QUOTEI ignore this rule. Im not that good at picking up changes from Space Marine Epic to Netepic. Has happened before and will likely happen again. The thing for me what I decided to dip those troops in my bowl on white paint was mainly case I thought the great company was - great. Today it is quite likely that there will not be a command stand on the whole army unless you actually buy a separate stand. This feels for me like a steep price to pay. On the other hand its easy to just see those old command stands and those command landraiders and see what you now have. You might feel cheated or like you lost something. Maybe its still a good card. dunno. The most important question is to have the chapter interesting and attractive. The change that Sanjuro talks about doesn't bode well for their probability to be picked either. ![]() Quote: yeah, it's true. Was like that in Netepic, too. Ah, yet again I get to repeat myself, yay! There are better ways to limit something than chopping all the good bits off or raising the price (ok, so I've never before said specifically "chopping the good bits off" but it's still a good line, so you'll have to forgive me). I prefer unbalanced and fun to balanced and dull. The other guy can always take something from his list that is awesome and unbalanced. That way everyone's happy. I remember the excited way people talked about their units and how they were a good unit and what you got for your points etc. Now, all I hear is, yeah, they used to be good. Or, hey remember that time, yeah things were better then. *sigh* The few v5 games I played were a frustrating disappointment. And because of that I have since shelved my Epic. I might get back to it but I'm pretty put off by the dull drabness of the lists. The decision making here is all a bit one sided too. Bitter? Hell yeah, why not. |

This change was made before NE5.0 (and indeed before 4.1 IIRC) which is why I said "a long time". Way back in the day when the seperate HQ and Command abilities were introduced the Command half was pared off a lot of units. I think in some cases things went too far personally (the entire V5.0 Eldar book had a total of 2 units with Command), and some of them have been rolled back. I think the Space Puppies face some hefty penalties already (No devestators!!!!) so I'd be fine if the Termies got Command back.....they are a "command" unit after all. |

![]() Before v5!?! Man, I must just blame v5 for everything!.. well, who wouldn't after it caused the economy to crash. I know sometimes I forget or brush over stuff but my decision to ignore the change in HQ/Command is sound. Glad you agree with the Space Wolves though. (C'mon Gold make daddy happy again!) |

yay, this would make them interesting again and compensate for the "missing" devastators. ![]() |

Is it possible to make that change now so it is incorporated in the goldrules? Quote: The few v5 games I played were a frustrating disappointment. And because of that I have since shelved my Epic. Nup, 'fraid I'm in charge and it's shelved, for now. I haven't the time or energy and the v5 thing put the lid on it. So no more BatRep's from me for the foreseeable future, sorry. Although, those new Zombocoms Monoliths and Obelisks do look nice... |

Every so often I put things away, usually when they have gotten to be a routine. When I get back to them I have fresh ideas and the drive to do cool/er stuff. I think it's good to forget stuff so you can learn it again from a new prospective, well, that's what I think anyway. I just need a break. The batreps will be back. They better be, I'm expecting some Necron things in the post and want to use them at some point. Oh, and Thanks. |
