Hi,

in last game, my opponent played in IG army with a tactical company in moles. One mole missed surfacing (rolled a "1") but all others surfaced as expected. I managed to break the mole company card the same turn they arrived and my opponent had to roll for morale tests.

There's nothing in the rule about morale tests for tunnelers and embarked troops that are still underground. We considered that in such a case, if the underground tunneler missed the morale test, it just routs and is removed from table.

Does anyone already figured this case ? How could it be played ?

1) as we played ? moral test failure means tunneler routs and troops are removed
2) underground tunnelers that fail morale test may try to rally in the end phase and appear later in a next turn ?
3) something else ?

Thanks for your help :)

Wow, that's a good one!  I think I'd go with 2).  They are not Independant so no need to rout.  Put on Fall Back orders.  If they rally roll normally to see if they emerge in subsequent turns.

This opens up the same question for detachments of companies on reserve and awaiting to be dropped too.

or eldar detachments within an eldar portal (if it's allowed that some detachments can stay inside the warp more than 1 turn).

Hi!

Number two is good enough.

I thought I had seen everything, but this particular circumstance is very new to me.  :vD

So, as in all cases apply the rules as written.  If a company passes its' break point then all detachments have to check morale.  If they fail, they go on fall back.  Units off board obviously can't move away or any of that stuff, and I can't think of any reason why they'd need to take another check, so once they've spent a full turn "falling back" they can attempt to rally.  Once they have successfully rallied they can be given orders normally and attempt to enter the board.

Well, that's my interpretation of the rules as they are written.

Not sure... Off table troops  (reserves and maybe units in tunnellers and flyers) would they be able to prevent themselves being dropped/deployed. I get the feeling they would be in mid transit. I think they should still appear as planned but on Fall Back orders.

The troops in the Mole Assault tunneller nervously check and recheck their equipment. The Captain, keeping in touch with HQ from his command consol goes pale...
"By the Golden Throne... we just lost Command."

...

The Guardsmen, silently look at each other shock on each of their faces, knowing in their hearts all is lost as the tunneller compartment floor angles towards the surface. All eyes watch with expectant dread for the assault hatch to open...

OR

The Guardsmen all shite (bloody filter) a brick and flap like a pair of flatulent pantaloons. The Captain resignedly orders the tunneller pilot to turn around and head back to base. The Commissar will understand after all...
