Hey, why the hell are there so many different weapon fits for the Land Speeder in the NetEpic Space Marine list and only one weapon choice for the Eldar Vyper Jetbike?

Lets, see... There are models from E40K that clearly show different types of weapons on the back... rocket or missile launcher, scatter laser, bright lance, star (plasma) cannon and shuriken cannon... yet the stats only reflect the shuriken cannon... now badly IMO... hmmm?

See, if the Vyper was as good as it used to be then I would care not a jot... or not enough to bother with... however, not only were the Vypers made rarer due to the new company composition but also they were neutered having there -1TSM taken away too... AND! a reduction in Caf (later rectified to +2 Caf but come on, one or the other... Is it a gun platform or a Caf monster... seemingly now it is neither... so why would I want them?!?)

Meanwhile the Space Marines have the Typhoon... without having an actual mini in reality... (you have to make your own, easy enough) but rules for models that don't exist and none for models that do? Am I missing something?

Guess, what? In my group... don't you just hate a sentence that starts that way?.. In my group we do include the weapons choice. Thank goodness, since v5 totally conned the Eldar into giving up all their lovely bikes ...but not the Squats because there was no bike comparison there at all and besides there all so small and cute how could we pinch there bikes.

You could apply the same question to Dreadnoughts. Marines have just about every weird and wonderful dreadnought going... Eldar, one. Hey, I'm not saying get rid of stats for any minis. I am actually saying how about spreading some of that love to the other races too.

There is a mini for the Typhoon...I think you get one set of the rockets in the E:A blister.  They're cute too.

In NetEpic V1.1 we had a listing for every different weapons combination featured on the Falcons, Vypers and Dreads.  It was (in your parlance) pants.  So these days it would be what...5 Falcons, 7 Wave Serpents, 9+ Dreads, 6 Vypers, 5 platforms. Luckily sanity prevaled (well mostly) and that sillyness had all gone by version 4.0.  

There are already rules for the Wave Serpents and old style Dreads (although these don't make much sense) in the Options book.  If you want to do the same for newer Dreads, Falcons, Grav platforms and Vypers go hard

Yup, the Dreads are awesome. Didn't the old Eldar Dreads come with Jetpacks too?..

I think I am trying to make a case for the fact that the Vyper should have their -1TSM at the very least... or something better back. They are a gun platform, much shootyness and all that. This is supported by the fact there is a profusion of vyper minis with all sorts of heavy weapons and not just Shuriken Cannon. I'm not looking to make things pants, I just think some things already are.

Damn, I missed the typhoon model... I was going to make my own.

I wouldn't mind seeing stats for all of the Mk I Dreads. I think there were 3 or 4 different weapon loads for them (and War Walkers).

cant comment on the pointy eared gits, sínce i allways found them to be major cheese. chaos dossent have different types of landspeeders... mabye the version of eldar in epic are conservatives who dont like change

So, to recap.

Vypers: Return of the -1TSM to their Shuriken Cannon attacks.

Eldar Dreadnought rules: Would like to see more options for these.
Eldar Walker rules: Would also like to see more options for these.

Ps: who ever did the rules for the Scout Walker has my respect, I love that thing... would have liked better weapons but, hey.  

Now that's the kind of Eldar lovin' I'de like to see more of in the other lists.

Looking at a few old and sad torn pages I have found from out of an Adeptus Titanicus supplement (from White Dwarf No:60... or so it says at the bottom of the page.) I can't even remember who gave them to me. I see that the Eldar Wraithlord Dreadnoughts came in three different varieties... four if you include War Walkers as they have. luckily I also have at least one unit of each type... somewhere.

The First is the "War Cry" or Assault Dreadnought and according to this they are armed with a Fist with Shuriken Catapult and a Lascannon arm plus Jump Pack.

The second is the "Banshee" Support Dreadnought armed with two Fists with flamers and a Missile Launcher plus jump Pack... (two fists? Shouldn't the Assault version have those?..)

The last is the "Vampire" Spirit Warrior Dreadnought... weren't they all Spirit Warriors?.. it has a smaller head and armed with one Fist with shuriken catapult and a Plasma Gun but seemingly no Jump Pack.

Are these they units that would be nice to see in NetEpic?

I have about 12 of each...and a ton of War Walkers. (why did GW decide to release 5 different War Walker models down the years, yet make the rules for them so bad no one would ever take them?)

Alas, these models came from the era where there was still a living Eldar in the Dreads, and only the Spirit Warrior was similar to the current Waystone driven Wraithlord concept.  GW revisionist history at work .  The different models had pretty widely divergent costs (and exactly mirrored the 40K versions).

It would be neat to do proper rules for all these, but balancing them so they could be used in the Spirit host would be hard.  The current Dread stats are an amalgam of the different types, much like the Exarchs....if you pick them apart the pieces would be cheaper but not as good.  

Perhaps some rules just for the Vampire would be neat.  Using the old Rogue Trader/AT fluff they should have Plasma Gun/Shuriken/Cameleoline no Jump Jets, lower CAF (Waystone, 1 arm).  So translating that you'd have something like:

10cm 5+ 2+ Plasma Gun 50cm 1 4+ -3 Stealth

Same basic restrictions as current "Wraithlords" (Geez I wished we just called them Dreadnoughts).  Stealth and a monster gun with 50cm is a bit scary though.
