The old rules stated that units engaged in close combat by Chaos Daemons could not fire in the First Fire phase as they were frozen in horror at being attacked by something so frightening. Now units on First Fire can Snap Fire at units charging them in the Movement phase as long as they haven't moved (HQ's etc.) So what happens if the unit charging is a Chaos Daemon? 1) Does the defender fail to Snap Fire as it's being charged by a Chaos Warp Horror (Fluff) just like before... Or 2) Does the unit get to Snap Fire even though its being attacked by a Chaos Daemon. either one does not appeal (option 1 being the best of a bad lot in my opinion) and the reason why I haven't used the Snap Fire for normal units in the movement phase in my games to date. Any ideas guys? (generic term meaning people, not sexist remark)
I like games but don't play silly buggers. |

Snap fire is an extension of first fire, not its own separate order, so there is no real contradiction. Even though it occurs in the movement phase. In any event, I guess rewording the rule to not being able to fire on first fire or snap fire should be included. Primarch |

Hi Primarch, Thanks for clearing that up. [/I like games but don't play silly buggers.] |

In the Chaos book under the Greater Daemon special rules it clearly states in 5. that "a unit on First Fire orders may not fire upon a GD that is charging them"....seems pretty clear cut. |

Yes, yes, ok I apologise I goofed. I checked the NetEpic Rules and you are 100% correct and I messed up. I must say in my own defence however interpretation sometimes requires another's view point. (Or putting your brain in gear.) Isn't anyone going to comment on the picture? I'm just chuffed I got the bleeding thing attached. |

I like the old school Eldar Knights! I have been trying to get some for a while myself. |

Thanks Mark, Try eBay for the Knights. They do turn up every so often but are still very rare. You could if brave enough attempt to convert them from Warhammer 40K Wraithguard or similar. (I know, not very helpful, sorry.) The Knights are great to look at but they usually attract a lot of fire. Best against Chaos. |

(Warhead @ Jun. 10 2008,15:25) QUOTE Try eBay for the Knights. That's where I got most of mine. I also got some from a trader at Bartertown. Stupid me didn't buy any when they were brand new. ![]() |

Hi Dwarf Supreme, I was lucky enough to stumble onto them when Games Workshop still did mail order and got myself a few Hosts. I didn't even know at the time how rare they would become I just liked the models and wanted some for an Eldar player to use in a Mega Wars campaign. Some minis are hard to paint but these things are just great. If anyone has any pictures of their own they want to show off please feel free. I would be really interested in other peoples methods. (Also the object of my very first post has been speedily dispatched so I might as well do something with it.) |

Yup, it's one of two Tzeentch Warhounds with Chaos Energy Whips. (Not my doing!.. before I get an earful about titan weapon fits. Our full time Chaos player uses two Chain Fists on Warhounds... actually he uses them on most Titans... the sod.) I got both Warhounds as a pair off of eBay and attempted to give this one a lightning style paint job while the other I tried to represent Tzeentch warp fire with yellow receding into white. (Jeez, any more of that and I'll be picking out curtains.) Hey zap123, one of the reasons I registered was after I checking out your Batrep. (Cool battle, thing was a bloodbath, my favourite.) Really like your terrain and units. What size table are you using? Don't feel your alone about unpainted minis Dwarf Supreme I would give good odds that all gamers are in that club. (It has taken me 13 years to get 12 out of 36 Eldar Knights painted) I always make the mistake of taking too many units out to paint and putting myself off. Things go far better when I start small but if things go well I just start getting carried away. These Bright Stallions were easy. White spray with a once over in white paint just to make it Bright and then chose two Bright colours for head and shoulder/shin guards and if your feeling extravagant lighten the colours until they meld with the white near the ends. Oh and Silver for the ribs and stuff. Fire warriors are the same except I use Reds and Orange etc, simple. I like to paint Dark warriors like Spirits (got the idea from Warhammer undead army of all things after three unhappy attempts with dark green and blue with lightning strikes) I used green mixed with white and green inks and then dry brushing more lightened green. It sounds like it would be hard to do with lots of hassle but you'd be surprised. (I'm only just learning how to paint minis... and that's only to a standard I can feel happy with.) |

![]() Just bare with me while I try to put stuff on this post. By George I think I may have managed to do it. (I feel like the ape in 2001... does anyone else hear the film score?) Hopefully this will be just the start... unless I muck it up. (Next step Battle Reports!) |

Really like your terrain and units. What size table are you using? Cool. The tables we use are basically an 8 x 4 feet piece of MDF painted green on one side and natural on the other. I've made most of my terrain to look ok on a natural MDF board. 8x4 seems about the right size for 4-6K battles I think. In the old days we used to play on table tennis tables which must have been closer to 10x5 and points totals sometimes got crazy ![]() I'm waiting for Exodus Wars to bring out their mounted Bounty Hunters so I can finish off my Exodite army....I think they might be pushovers for most though. |

Yeah, there is some useful stuff for Epic in the Exodus Wars minis.
....I think they might be pushovers for most though. I'm not quite sure of the meaning... can you explain please? I've always thought there should be more unique units for Exodites. I saw some cool conversions of Exodite Cold Ones using Chaos Slaanesh Beast Riders. (Don't ask. I can't remember where. My heads spinning with all the new stuff and these are the first tentative steps into cyberspace too) I've been dreaming of snazing up my table and scenery lately and there are some very fine examples on the site. I did manage to lever my table sides at an angle in order to create a valley effect. (MDF boards with stuff supporting the levered ends) It changes the whole LOS across the table. I'm too lazy to have multiple terrains though so its an Agri World for me. Which means I can stick to one colour scheme for the IG and PDF... I'm gona' need more green aren't I... (sigh) |
