Post subject:  a few eldar questions

Hello,
sorry to bother you again but here are a few questions:

-does the warp missile bypass the holo field or the titan still gets its saves?
-what happens when a web from a doomweaver hits an 1+ armour location of an unshielded praetorian/titan (the book says that tanks with 1+ armour saves are unnaffected, shielded things with template either, but maximum damage of a random location if there is no shield).

And a thought: warp hunters are way too expensive if you don't use the optionnal rule "only one scatter".

Thanks in advance !

- The Holofield still gives a save against a Warp missile.
- You can play this one either way really.  We use "if it hits a 1+ it does nothing".
- Warp Hunters do suck :).  They have some utility against armies with huge infantry hordes, but as a precision weapon they are woeful.  You can't really make them any better because then the Cobra would suck harder...just recognise them for what they are.

Hi!

How can we make these units "not suck" ?

We had a lengthy discussion about them before.  The major weakness is they are totally inaccurate.  However, the only thing that differentiates the Warp Hunters from the Cobra and titan D-Cannon is that the larger weapons are slightly less inaccurate.  So if you improve the Warp Hunters then no one would take the Cobra, so then you'd have to improve it....etc.  As noted, against a horde army the Warp Hunter is bound to hit something, and it is one of the few Eldar template weapons.  As long as you don't take it with the hope that you will be able to hit precise targets you won't be dissappointed (so much).  Every list has "less useful" units, and most have a couple of really useless (or highly niche) ones....as it should be really.  Also, Warp Hunters are exactly the same as they always have been....they've always sucked :)

True, but I personally think the minis are really cool.

I'm not sure how to make them more useful without causing too many ripples that might effect other units. Maybe use two templates? The first one scatters as normal and the second one touches the first, but the Eldar player gets to position the second.

Don't worry for the warp hunters, it was just a question.
I play with a friend who is "maximizer" (well that's the french word for people making damn hard army list), and don't want to hear about warp hunters in his list anymore, it's too orkish for him.

Hi!

This needs to be reworded as weapons that fire directly or missiles that need to "lock on" can be negated by the holofield. Only artillery barrage weapons since they target an area rather than the model specifically negate holofields.

not logical by rules, because the eldar titans have an psy save of 3+ and 4+ so why an extra save? i think it is already a high risk to shoot a eldar titan with a one shot missle. and the rules say, that the warp ignores shields, so the vortex too!?

Yes it is logical by the rules...."A Holo-field grants a fixed save against all incoming shots. .  This save is ineffective against template weapons...."

A Warp Missile is an incoming weapon and does not use a template.....so you get a save from the Holo-field.  Also remember the Warp Missile ignores shields.....not fields.

The only Eldar Titan with a Psychic save is the Warlock (for fluff-obvious reasons) so I don't know where the extra psy save you are talking about comes from???

Better explained and correct.  :)
