Evil Sunz Bowelburna Squadron is really powerful. You get 3 of these guys. 30 cm movement 5+ save +1 caf Scorcher (big template) 4+ to affect Turreted weapon. For 50 pts.. The imperial version Hellhound reads (you get 3 of these guys aswell) 15 cm movement. 3+ save Fire Thrower Template 5+ to affect for 150 pts.. So the orcey version is *2 movement, 50% easier to hit and turreted. the downside would be worse save. but 100 pts cheaper.. Dont know what you guys think about this but please do share. //Peter |

Hi! The main difference and the ork handicap is the mob formation rules. Unlike hellhounds or any IG detachment which can act with the IG command radius independently from other detachments and can have more range and tactical flexibility than the ork scorchers that are dependent on their ork nobz and their small command radius for orders (10cm). This means scorchers rarely get into enough range to be effective. If you manage it, great, but on average its more likely to get destroyed well before they can be used. Thus the lower cost. Okay thanks. I cant say that my best knowledge is not about the command structure of orcs.. I guess a part of the questionmark is how the Hellhounds can be so sucky with only 5+ to affect and 15 cm move for 150 pts. But, well I guess that it has allways been like that. /Pete |

Hellhounds have always been sucky....every list has a few units that you would never take if you were only concerned about building the best army you can. Some people play with a Great Unclean One just because they think it's cool ![]() |

It depends how you use them and to what goal. In regular battles, its a good defensive unit. (who'd charge a position defended by these on first fire?). Don't expect them to reach the other side of the table and do something. Thats not what they are for. If your particular battle has buildings or objectives in them nearby, then they are an excellent part of your assault force. It all depends on the circumstances. All units can shine given the right opportunity. Of course I play many siege scenarios and these units a vital in those. Primarch |

the hell hound is one of the best line breakers the IG haw. the dream construction for siege is a gorgon company, a vindicator platoon and one or two hell hound groups they can smash the best fortification and swamp the best dough in army |

Writing in this old thread... The hellhound according to the Adeptum Mechanicus book... Hellhound: This vehicle carries a large flamethrower with volatile fuel to burn its targets to ashes. Use the large teardrop template, and hit any unit underneath on a 4+ at 0 TSM. This weapon ignores cover modifiers to hit. In the list at the end of the book it says that it has 5+ on affect.. So I think that somewhere there is an error... //Pete |

I think it was improved to 4+, but we'll edit all that when the time comes. Primarch |
