A question came up during tonight's battle royale...do Imperial Guard Flyers need to be in command? If they do, then how exactly do you manage it in practice? (apart from a Sky Wolf Company) If not, then should this be included in the army list rules? For the record, I have always played as if they didn't need to be in command, without even considering that they might have to be. |

I played the same way, I consider them as an independant squadron that do not need to follow the IG command line. |

Hi! Independent. They do NOT observe standard command rules. There is mention of units that are outside that command structure but fliers are not mention. Should be added. Primarch |

This really only affects Guard/PDF and Orks right? We probably dont want to make them Independant (the whole routing if broken thing.....though I suppose a Broken flyer is highly likely to exit the table ![]() |

Next weird question - the Sky Wolf company contains a Company HQ Vulture. How exactly does a Command flyer work?? Do I have to give it orders? If I don't give it orders, what are my options when I activate it? Can this flyer actually shoot on First Fire? |

I guess its one of those weird mix ups, with so many flier interpretations going around.... I would say it works like any command unit moving on charge and shooting on first fire. Other than that I don't see any other benefit. Primarch |

I only asked because no other flier in the game can shoot on first fire (at least, not with anything other than bolters)...and because the normal First Fire order causes fliers to land. |

I would suggest the only benefit being it gets the HQ targetting protection. Anything else is kinda silly. |

I would also suggest that the Sky Wolf squadron should just consist of 3 squadrons, and one extra Vulture, and not classify it as a CHQ...again, this is the only command flyer in the entire game, afaik. |
