Post subject:  Probably a dumb question?

I have never really looked through the netepic rules, because we have always just played using the space marine 2 rules for games.  But since I have started wanting to field units that are not in the old rulebooks, but are in netepic I saw an abbreviation in the orks army book that I do not understand.  It is under the note section in the back of the book, for example under the stompa it says PD(4), fearless.  What does the PD(4) stand for, sorry if this is a dumb question, but the more I look over the netepic rules the more I want to go to only using them for the games I play.  Thanks for any assistance.

PD stands for Point Defence, and represents smaller guns, bolters and the like (Rng 15cm. 6+ to hit, 0 save mod) that are always on first fire, irrespective of orders (treat as separate model for shooting). These are usually fired when the unit gets charged.

Hi!

As mentioned, PD means point defense. Which represents bolter defense fire from vehicles. It makes vehicles more resilient from massed infantry attacks.

This is due to the fact that in the original rules, vehicles were especially vulnerable after their order for fire was taken. Hardly fair or realistic. Now they can use their bolter's to discourage infantry assaults, which can be taken even f they have fired previously in the turn.

Fearless means their are immune to fear producing effects and powers.

While the core mechanics are the same, netepic has many small (and some quite large) changes that make it quite a distinct game experience from its predecessor.

I'll field as many questions as you'd like to ask.
