Yes.
It looks like you solved it.
And I think you are right. It depends on the version of excel that I am using.
I use excel 2008 for Mac, and I have to admit it often gives me some problems.

It looks like the version of excel you are using is able to recognize merged cells, which my version of excel appears unable to. I am guessing the original tables have a lot of merged cells.

I also found that copying the tables from the pdf's takes a long time, before my computer responds and I am able to paste anything in excel, but I just thought that my computer is old and slow.

If you can copy from the army statistics tables in the pdf's to an excel spreadsheet, I would like copies of the resulting excel-files.
Would you be able to post them here on the forum?

Thanks.

Hi!

Yes you can upload files and make them available as part of your post.

So as not to incur in redundant labor. Which book(s) you tackling?

Hi!

This worked for me. I think I can proceed quickly now.

On a separate note does anyone know how to make an army builder in excel or open office. I have seen some nifty things done with it (I have dirtside 2 one thats very nice) and I wondered if anyone had the now how on how to do it.

I have done something in excel using drop down boxes and look up tables. First version just uses the formation data, but I have been thinking about seeing if I can do it with the full stats as well.

You just select the boxes under the formation heading for each formation you want and it brings up the info. If you don't want anything, then select the bottom option in the list to fill the box as blank.
Titans have to be constructed in the boxes at the bottom. As with the formation selection, it uses to drop down boxes to bring up the various weapon options. Select the "None" option to not put anything in that slot.

Wow!

This is exactly what I meant!

Once all the excel files are done can you do this for all the army lists?

Awesome. ;D

Hi!

I have completed a straight "copy paste" from the books to separate spreadsheet files.

I will now make them look pretty and update the information where necessary to reflect what has been discussed so far.

Once this is done I will forward them to you so you can make those builder files. :)

Hi!

Finished!

Attached are all the spreadsheet files with updated information and stats (not all of them, but quite a few). I have already include many of the recommendations across the different army discussions.

Also I eliminated all the mentions of "optional". that was done when these were new. That was 10 years ago. So all units are "standard".

You can work you magic now Mattman! ;)

Excellent work on the Excel tables my friend. Look forward to seeing what Matt does with them.

I'm sure these will prove to be an incredibly valuable resource for the Net Epic community.

Hi!

I'll update these regularly as more changes additions are made.

I think having Mattman's nice army builder excel files will be really useful. I wanted something like that for a long while. :)

Perfect. Brilliant work. Thanks a million. This is exactly what I was after.
Thank you so much for putting these together.

With a bit of luck I can start a war off the shoulder of Orion before Christmas. I promise to post photos and a battle report once it happens :)

Hi!

Once Mattman does the army builder files off of these then we'll have the "Full Monty". ;) ;D
