Yeah, I am doing things with the marine list, so I will produce these for the marines, haven't done them all yet, those are just a few examples. Will post up the Excel doc when I get done and you can use the template for the other armies.

I have also spent some time of some simple CCG sized army cards which I will post a picture of in due course.

Matt

Hi!

Great! I will redo the IG and Squat in the same vein as your template and work from there.

I would definitely like to see your army cards. Sometimes we get hung up on the old "traditional" size, but a CCG sized one that fits in the standard sleeves is attractive to me.

I was trying to do something similar to the old style, but sourcing decent silhouettes was nearly impossible. So in the end just went for listing the formation composition.
I have managed to quite easily get all the unit stats on the cards.

Hi!

Indeed silhouettes is very hard. We could never figure out to do it easily. I think what you did is the only route that is easily achieved.

Nice! I always like the silhouettes, but they were clearly a pain for GW as well since they ended up just using pictures of minis for many of the cards.

Hi!

Given the points to clarify on this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=145&t=25671&p=490350#p490350

I'll put completing the spreadsheets aside momentarily.

I will commence reading the books and start posting regarding omissions/errors and such for the army supervisors to place in their update documents.

Thanks!

First and foremost thanks for putting out the units tables in excel, and thanks for editing the NetEPIC rules. Great job. After 15 years away from the game I have decided to try and set up a small campaign using the NetEPIC rules. The excel version of the units statistics tables makes these easier to approach.

However, I was wondering if it would be possible to also prepare the army-cards tables presented in the NetEPIC rules for each of the armies? I have tried to copy and paste the tables from the pdf NetEPIC rules, but this didn't work out, and resulted in me having to do a lot of editing. The tables from the pdf Net Epic rules are not straightforward to copy into an excel spreadsheet.

Would it be possible for you guys who wrote down the NetEPIC rules to also share the tables with the Army cards from the NetEPIC rules?

I have started out myself preparing a table for the Army card statistics for the Eldar army, but then realized that some of you might have the equivalent tables lying around already.

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi!

The plan is to make everything available in spreadsheets. It's that, as usual, real life has reared its ugly head and I have become side tracked.

With the revision this is one of the priorities is to get all the army cards in spreadsheet fashion for potential import to army builder or making an army builder in excel itself.

It's a pain staking process though, since as you mention, its not a straight copy paste from PDF, so I have to do them by manual entry which takes a bit.

You may have spurred me into putting this back on top on my list "to do". So lets see what I can cook up. :)

Just what exactly are you guys getting when you try copy and pasting from the PDFs into a spreadsheet? I just tried it and I think I managed (without too much trouble) to get each box on the PDF tables to be a separate cell in Excel.

If I copy directly from the tables in NetEPIC pdf files to an excel spreadsheet, I got all values/entries divided by spaces. Not 'tabs' which is what excel would require to recognize the matching columns and rows. This results in all text from the tables appear as single lines in the excel spreadsheet. Of course I could start by converting text to columns, and use space as a separator, and then move cells around until I get a table that matches the army cards statistics tables in the NetEPIC pdf files, but I figured some of you might have done this already. If none of you have done this yet, I'll start preparing the army-cards statistics tables for excel for the Eldar armies. I'll put it out here once I have it ready. But remember, real life has kept me away from EPIC for 15 years, so you might need to have patience with me :)
If you really did manage to copy and paste from the pdf to excel, I would like to see the result. You might just have succeeded me?

Might depend on which version of excel you are using.
I found that you can copy and paste into an open office spreadsheet and 90% of the information goes into columns correctly (it is then easier to fix the last 10%) and then that info can be copied into excel without everything going into a single cell.

Hi!

Really?!

I use open office and I get an awful mess when copy pasting from the pdf to it. I just gave up and did it by hand.

How do you do it and keep the formatting to put it in the right columns/rows?

Okay, now that is really odd. Not sure what options I used, will have to check. But like some of the others, copying straight from the PDF into excel made everything on a row appear in a cell, but I tried exactly the same thing with open office and all the stat information appears in separate boxes, even those units with multiple weapons have them appear in a single cell, stacked ontop of one another, with the attack dice for each weapon in the next cell, all stacked on top, then the "to hits" etc. Then when I copy that information into excel, everything stays in their cells.
Very odd that it seems different for different people.

This is what I get when I copy the first part of the marine table into Open Office:

Then I highlight everything, copy, and paste into Excel:

Pretty much everything is were it should be with minimal work required to set things right.

I know it takes about 10 seconds for my computer to make the first copy from PDF to the clipboard, but after that it is all just copy and paste.

Yeah, here is what I get. All I had to do is copy and paste from the PDF into excel for Mac.

Hi!

This worked for me. I think I can proceed quickly now.

On a separate note does anyone know how to make an army builder in excel or open office. I have seen some nifty things done with it (I have dirtside 2 one thats very nice) and I wondered if anyone had the now how on how to do it.
