So are we are talking about doing to everything after the bugs (and maybe bugs too) the same thing that GW did to Squats? Kill them off and pretend they did not exist?
Are we sure that is what we want to do?

No! Poor guys - they can just be left alone in a quiet corner of the galaxy for anyone who wishes to enjoy them to do so.

It is definitely a tricky question. Personally I don't care much for those races but I also realize that they've got a fan base out there. Maybe the question we need to ask ourselves is this: If a race doesn't have any Epic minis available do they need to be included in the fluff? Of course we should only "squatify" a race if doing so adds to a more coherent background. Deleting something just for the sake of deleting it makes just as little sense as adding stuff just for adding it.
While I don't mind variety as such I am also a firm believer in "less is more". If we can make a coherent background with a strong narative I think that should take preference over including new races just for the sake of haveing them arround.
Maybe the best solution is to have different "eras" as previously suggested to keep everybopdy happy. A Heresy style set of lists for the old schoolers, a current style list for those who like the background as it is and perhaps a future" style list for those who would like a fresh start.
Just a few random thoughts...
Cheers!

Hi!
I dont think so. We only wanted armies with actual models. Thus Necrons didnt make it either.
Primarch | That is such a shame.... it was an amazing list...
Jyrki did a fantastic Exotides list too .

So do we then add in races as minis are done for them?
Also what counts as available? Sold by GW? Can be bought on ebay?

I'm not a fan of Tau or Necrons, but I wouldn't want to do to them what GW did with my beloved Squats. I agree with Pitfiend's thought that more "alien" aliens would be cool, something besides bipedal races. The issue for new races might be the lack of suitable minis.
I guess my main issue with reworking fluff is to create more cohererent fluff which eliminates the nonsense (like the Emperor being C'Tan) or makes it more sensible (like SM chapter size.) The solution, as others have mentioned, might be to have different eras. I think a good starting point would be to reach some sort of consensus of how WE want epic to be, to avoid some of the bickering that goes on in GW's epic forum (like what exactly comprises AMTL.)

I'm not really sure. As a starting point I think it would be best to include as much as possible. However we might find ourselves in the situation where we might be able to come up with some cooler fluff for the existing armies if we didn't have to take a certain race into account (like the Necrons). Now of course if it looks as though we might be able go get some suitable minis available I'm all for including them. However if there will never be good minis available I think we might have sufficient reason to disregard them from the NetEpic fluff and instead focus on writing some good and coherent fluff for the rest of the stuff.
Like I said I don't think we should change things just for the sake of change but only if we find that we can do better without it.
Cheers!

To be honest, as IG is my major collection it almost does not matter to me. I just wanted to point out some issues to make sure we do think through things before we "Dump" a race just because it "might not fit".
I could not care less about Tau or Necrons for example. But where Tau have Minis available, I would like to see them included. Necrons could be left out and when they have Minis, let's put them back in.
Now, I hear those who have, at great personal expense, collected up Androids so they could have a Necron force cry out "Noooo".
I think we go ahead and have/reae lists for them. They just do not figure into the time line until minis are available.
Sort of a "Future Armies" list section.
Thoughts?

Sounds reasonable to me, dafrca. I think it is important to concentrate on armies that already have minis available, but I do like the idea of a "Future Armies" section.

I know some like them, I just was unimpressed with them. Different strokes for different folks.
