But finally in the templates explanations, sometimes it's written that you need a 5+ for a 2-4 damage (weapon), sometimes the damage can be regenerated sometimes it's not written that it can be regenerated...finally we have a global rule for critical regeneration but we don't know if it can apply to a critical damage (does the head maximum damage can be regenerated on a 6+ ?)
Regarding critical damage explanation, I agree that tables are not clear (no blame to any NetEpic editor, since they were like that since Tyranid supplement was released.) Indeed, in 1995, I inquired GW regarding those tables and the way damage should be handled. Although I can't tell if my letter went on the desk of a studio member, their reply was clear: all damage could be regenerated regardless of the text. Yes, even a leg ripped off can regenerate on a 4+. This special regeneration only affects special damage (CAF or movement penalty, inability to fire, etc.) ; wound counters, taken from usual hits or as a side effect of a critical, are regenerated as usual.
I suggest that we take all table entries and make them in line with regeneration rule. Either we can add "this damage is regenerated on a 4+/5+/6+ in the end phase" to every entry where it has a purpose, or we can remove this statement everywhere, the regeneration of critical hits being covered in the rules.
