I don´t know if NETEPIC has more units to choose from
but I think in E:A the armylists are more divided

Each NetEpic armylists has added new units since SM/TL
either units that just needed rules (for example: more wave serpent variants, the eldar phoenix and vampire)
or complete new units (squat ironshield, ironhammer, forward observer)

I never had the feeling, that were not useful
I think there are still more or less useful units like in E:A
IMO thats better, it gives the army more"color"

I played Space Marine from its second incarnation, through all the supplements and Titan Legions up until last year, when I switched over to Epic EA.

My model collection is still, however, optimised for Space Marine, so I am definitely interested in Net Epic.  I downloaded the Net Epic 5 rules some time ago, but I never actually got a chance to play, but it all seems so much more familiar to me than the Epic EA rules (even though I like those, I'm finding the learning curve quite steep).

In short, I think that players could play both versions of Epic if they so choose  .

My big problem is I need more opponents, as I can only ever play at home, because my dad is the only person who I know who plays Epic, and it would actually be easier for me to bring an Epic army up to Nottingham (where I spend most of my time), but without having an opponent it's not worthwhile.

Still, once the Net Epic Gold rules have been finalised, I will download them.  Are they significantly different to the Net Epic 5 rules, or just tweaks?

Basically just tweaks. Gold was originally intended as a graphically sexied up version of NetEpic 5.0. However in time some minor tweaks have been implemented, as playtesting has continued.

If it's just tweaks, I won't delete the downloads of version five, and I'll read some of the areas in more depth, since I do like the idea of getting involved in NetEpic.
