And updated army lists for the end of turn 2

So at the end of turn 2 it stands at:

Marines: 75 VPs
Eldar: 111 VPs

It may seem strange that so many points are on the board already (bear in mind the campaign target is 200 VPs), but it's worth bearing in mind that 4 out of the 7 armies for each side locked horns this turn!

Turn 4...

So it's war in the woods again - and this time I have the right forces to deal with the Eldar miscreants!

Spoiler alert: If you are following the campaign but haven't read battle report 6 yet and don't want to know the state of play, please read no further!

Campaign VP update and note:

Marines: 105 VPs
Eldar: 141 VPs

Marine Campaign VPs have actually reduced since Turn 4. This is because they lost the Campaign Objective and broke next to nothing in Battle 6.

The vast majority of forces have been tested in battle and both players are aware that the campaign is now coming to closing stages, and neither want to make mistakes (particularly the Marine player who is lagging behind in the VP stakes). This uneasiness is reflected on the campaign map this turn as both players order several of their armies to use the "Fortify" order and start building defences.

Turn 7 is another turn where no battles are instigated. However, this uneasy peace will not last much longer!

Eldar: 180 VPs

With the campaign threshold being 200 VPs, the next battle will almost certainly see the campaign end! Which side will be victorious? Or will it end in stalemate?

I hope that the Eldar can hang on to that lead, and take the victory. It's going to be very close though. It has been a really enjoyable campaign, and I'm looking forward to reading the final battle.

It's high time I brought everyone up to speed...

Despite winning the battle for the campaign objective 2 on E15 during the previous turn, the Marines elected to break down their battered army. This left the objective open for the Eldar's fresh army E8 to move in and take control.

Turn 10: The Marines make a tactical error by advancing upon a nearby city and attempting to capture a campaign objective. Unfortunately for them, the fresh Eldar army made up from reserves is on charge and engages them in battle!

Ok, for those still with us, here is the final Victory Points tally;

Marines: 189 VPs
Eldar: 209 VPs

Having broken the 200VP target, this means victory to the Eldar army!

A further breakdown of how the VP tally added up for each army;

Marines:
4 campaign objective markers held = 20 VPs
Total VPs for broken enemy units across campaign = 151 VPs
Additional VPs awarded for battle outcomes = 18 VPs
Total = 189 VPs

Eldar:
4 campaign objective markers held = 20 VPs
Total VPs for broken enemy units across campaign = 172 VPs
Additional VPs awarded for battle outcomes = 17 VPs
Total = 209 VPs

And after the dust has settled, here are the final army lists;
