Yup, the old Titan Legions ones were pretty cool.  We played a campaign using them for nearly a year....there were some seriously scary Titans by the end of that.  I had a Phantom with 17 kill rings around its Pulsar IIRC.

I like most of the weapon suggestions, though the Block/Grapple one would probably reduce the "specialness" of Ripper Tenticles somewhat.  The Witchblade/Diresword options look cool and I'd love to model them!

The Ripper Tentacle rules are a wee bit of a mess IMO and could do with something. I'm unsure what.

I'm glad the other suggestions seem to be acceptable so far. Yeah, I've been watching out for the new 40K Wraithlord sword or other likely looking sized blades to add to my Eldar titans.

I think both weapons should have Penetrating +2, I mean its a fricking sword! =) + other titan CC weapons have similar stats...

I tend to disagree with the +2 Penetrate damage. The tearing damage caused by a chain fist (for example) should be more severe than that of a Dire Sword IMO. Eldar Weapons are good but not prone to huge damage (yes there are some but not many like the Imperial weapons.) +2 Damage just doesn't seem very Eldar to me. If there are lots of players wanting a damage ability added (and the majority so far do) then I might agree with +1 but +2 is a bit too Human/Ork Aggressive.

If you arm him with two swords it becomes +2 right?  :vD

I was thinking something about a severing ability with the sword but couldnt really come up with a good idea. Had some thought about relieving the other titans of its limbs..

Offcourse +1 Pen and d6 in caf is really good but its nothing really new. If we want new that is.

Different is maybe all that can be managed. The Sever idea... you could use the slashing attack instead like with the Lord of Battles Hellblade? Two adjacent damage locations hit per attack. However, an extra D6 caf and Slash and +? Damage is getting into the realms of super ludicrous Ninja territory.  :sus:

Two swords?!. You just want to give all those Chaos Titans some of their own medicine.    Yes, the Subjugator Claws set a president for adding the two close combat weapons damage modifiers per arm...

I would still like to see something that blocks an opponents Close Combat weapon rendering it irrelevant in the close combat. It's the Eldar way.

Haha :)) I think I remember those. Their heads popped up when you scored a hit? I can just imagine two Titans fighting like that.

Impressive kills. Yeah, the Titan Skills are good stuff. We also use them in one off games by just buying the skills with the Titan. It's not as much fun as a Campaign though.

The Block/Grapple is interesting but it's difficult for me to imagine someone blocking a chainsaw with a hand/fist...this would usually result in something like "Doooooo, my hand is not attached to my arm anymore...".

About CC titan weapons for eldars, I do not really know if this fits the eldar titan "hit&run" playing. If the eldar titans can get bonuses to CC, you can be sure to see them charging at every turn. With their agility, long movement, holofield at 2+ and eventually the Witch Sight power of Warlock, you'll be able to easily destroy any imperial titan each time you charge it. Eldar titans are strong and effective shooting platforms that can fastly move to shot targets on side/rear, they're not made for CC assaults. I'd dislike seeing a 50cm phantom titan charge (cost ~400 points) at 4D6+12...

There are examples of powerfists vs. chain sword in the Warhammer 40K novels (before you dismiss this hear me out) with chain swords being deflected/blocked/parried by the powerfist. Also, to me the Imperial/Eldar Titan fists look bulked out with extra armour on the top of the hand. Perhaps for just such tactics. IMO. So it may not be so far fetched.

Regards the Swords. There are also examples throughout the Eldar list of units specialised in Close Combat. Striking Scorpions, Harlequins, Howling Banshee. If you do take two close combat weapons you will be passing up on all the cool ranged weapons that only the Eldar can take. The Eldar are not Tau and are not ALL range combat and nothing or hardly anything else. People so far seem to like the idea of having a choice. I know I would.

Edit: Or do you have a solution/suggestion for curtailing misuse of the Dire Sword/Witch Blade?

True but look at your list, only infantry. Aspect warriors are CC masters it's true but Eldars do not have other great CC solution within vehicles/SHGT, this is due to the Eldar army orientation. The best SHGT CAF is for the Cobra with a +5, Tempest has a +4 CAF. Eldar titans have not be made to be CC Titans.

About the sword, the idea is interesting but here's what I see when we talk about "giant robot with a sword":

Sorry  :sigh:

I guess this is something we want to change so that the titans can be used in a more versatile role. So you can build your titan as you want.

I think you can say similar things about imperial titans with chain fist or knights looking like something from a 40K battle.

Eldar titans are strong and effective shooting platforms that can fastly move to shot targets on side/rear, they're not made for CC assaults. I'd dislike seeing a 50cm phantom titan charge (cost ~400 points) at 4D6+12...

There are always ways to block the other players idea. To ruin this guys day you can have a couple of knights countercharging so you get extra D6 for your titan.
Warhounds armed with two chainfists cost 175. It would have 4d6 +8. That is quite cheap.

Haha! :vD

I guess it's a matter of perspective or imagination...
(I did not do this. This is for 40K but the closest I could find so far that looks like I would Imagine a Warlock or Phantom Titan with a Dire Sword or Witch Blade, you get the idea.)

EDIT: They do look quite similar actually. Gee, thanks Scream I'm gonna' be thinking of Transformers from now on, Gaah!    :))
