I was going through my Eldar "unpainted" pile and idly wondering what to do with my E40K version Cobras when I noted the similarlity of its' main weapon with the old Phantom Heat Lance.  Given we have Superheavies with a D-Cannon and Pulse Lasers, I didn't think it would be that great a stretch for a Craftworld to mount a Heat Lance on a Scorpion chassis.  Maybe it could be the unique unit for a Yme-Loc or Lugganth Craftworld list?

i guess it depends on the cost of the unit. i hardly ever use a cobra/scorpion because of the high point cost. maybe this unit would be at 150 range it justify its use :)

I was thinking probably 200 given it's a superheavy and all, but the Void Spinner is already 200 and arguably a better unit...so maybe 150 is about right.

When Epic SM/TL was stopped
I had already the new cobra tanks
and I used them with exactly the same weaponary you mentioded ;D
I bought them for 500 points for 3
or 200 for one(but I never bought one)

I did not use them often but
I think they are not overpowered
and with its speed of 25 cm you sometimes get close enough
to shoot at SH Tanks or Titans

Hi Guys,

No, no one else much seemed to think it a good idea at the time. We could certainly do some up for inclusion in the optional rules book if you wanted too :)

would be nice if there is an optional rule regarding the cobra/scorpion.
the models look really nice, but at the moment at 250pts they are outperformed by the revenant.

I had suggested in the Eldar book (but too late to get it included) that the cobra and scorpion mk I (the smaller versions than the new versions on the GW website) be nominated as variants of the cobra and scorpion. They're clearly about 50% of the size of the new ones, and thus present less of a target on the table top (giving them increased ability to navigate cover and also draw less fire since they are smaller). It was discussed that they might get added in the final book where all the optional stuff might get mentioned.

I like the heat lance idea.. though I'd suggest adding more flavor to it. Maybe something like giving it a burst template at the impact point. That it ignores cover like most flamer or heat weapon do.

Maybe add that you can't cross the beams from the weapons during the same phase or where they do cross you get a blast template and both weapons fail to complete their shot. IE the two magnetic funnels disrupt each other where they cross and the plasma explodes at the crossing point. Could be a great way for eldar to simulate Indirect fire artillery.

Hi!

Remember that the last book (optional/extra rules) is all inclusive. So whatever you guys want to come up with now, is the time.

Do you think there should be a single thread for all those suggestions? Or multiple individual threads?

Just created a thread for that purpose. If nothing else there needs to be a single thread where all the other threads that people want to propose for the final book can be linked to (So that things don't get lost)

Just going way back to Eysi's commont on the Scorpion vs Revenant thing, I find that interesting. I rarely take a Scorpion because I much prefer the Tempest for it's longer range and the fact they are a company card. However, if I was picking I would think the Scorpion would win out over a Revenent even though its' 50 points more? Basically same firepower (yeah sure, the Rev gets a 5+ 0TSM missile shot) and the Revenant is relying on it's Holofields while the Scorpion is popping up. The Revenant is a big target hoping to roll lots of 3+, while the Scorpion can just stay out of harms way until there's no bad guys left that can shoot it (or few anyway).
