Hi,

I tried that link to the English version of the Palladium core-rules, but it only seemed to lead to the French one. Anyone have the correct link or do I have to brush up on my school-french :D It's been 25+ years since I studied french so it's a bit rusty :)

A bit slow in the Palladium thread, but I have a question, so I'll give it a shot (no pun intended ;D )

The Palladium rules seem to have removed the "add 25cm hard to hit" rule for fliers/floaters. Instead depending chosen altitude, they are considered to be 15cm above the board (low) or 60cm above the board (high).
I guess this means you simply measure the distance from a model fireing on the floater to a point 15/60 cm above the board?
And the same goes for fireing from the floater/flier? You measure the distance to the unit, the floater/flier wants to fire at, from a point 15/60cm above the board where the floater is placed?

Sorry for the delay,

The rules are not yet available on English, but it will be the case soon !

Regarding the flyiers, it is a mistake, the 25cm on high altitude is still here, the distance is mesured 'ground to ground'

Thanks for your interest

Aha, ok, cool. So same rule as netepic Gold then :)

Just one question more regarding fliers/floaters then. In Gold, the adding of 25cm seems to be there to take into account the difficulty of hitting something high up in the air. So I think the 25cm is only added to the one trying to shoot at a flyer/floater, not the other way around. I mean, when the floater on high altitude fires, it doesn't have to add 25cm to the range.
Is this the same in the Palladium rules? It's seems to be possible to interpret it as it goes in both directions?

I hope it was possible to understand what I mean :)

I would say 90% is basically the same with some new nice improvements. I think some of the rules in Palladium are actually "optional rules" in Gold.
I especially like the solution for "empty activations" where you only activate units on charge or advance in the movement phase, the only FF orders you can activate is to snap fire.

Both versions are very true to the feel and spirit of the 2nd edition.

I think though, maybe someone from the Palladium team can confirm this, but there has been a slight change in the new 2.0 version of Palladium, regarding activations? If I translate the french correctly, you can actually activate light and heavy artillery on FF orders, in the movement phase, right?

Yes it is in the 'spirit' of the 2nd edition, with some changes.

yes you are right, it is possible to activate artillery on FF order in mouvement phase

A big change is the merging of FF / close combat / Fire in advance phase in one combat phase, the player with the most FF order start to activate a detachment (for shooting or close combat) whatever the order it receive. After this activation it is alternate between the players.

The advantage to be in FF is to start the combat phase and the 1 can be rerolled for shooting

This is the biggest change, the is a lot of smaller change / ajustements.

I think we will able to release the english version of the rules on december !

Let us know if you'd like any help looking it over to make sure it all translated out well.

That being said, is Morale handled differently in Palladium? I took a quick glance at the Tau list which had been translated, and I think I remember seeing that the number in the morale column had been increased to 6 in a lot of cases, when it was generally 3 before. Kind of makes me wonder if how morale works has been changed, since it'be be almost guaranteed that they'd fail with a morale of 6 under the existing Gold rules.

Yes, the moral is under 2D6, to have a bigger scale in the differents armies !

One thing I've been thinking about regarding the "add 25 cm both ways" for fliers/floaters is... Does it make any sense to have it when it's just the same both ways? Wouldn't it just be better to reduce the floaters/fliers weapons with 25 cm, or keep them as is?
