I had never thought about making the cards' dimensions different from the originals. I do like the idea of making them the same size as CCG cards to allow utilization of card sleeves. Putting all the info on one side of the card does make sense, but I like having a "broken" side on the card so that the card can be flipped over to show that a company/formation has broken.

Hi!

I think the "blank" side with the army logo can easily accommodate the word "broken". That's a good idea to keep track of things.

Hello all
I am of two minds on this. On one hand I do think it would be nice if the cards were the same size as trading cards, as these would fit into card sleeves and deck boxes, however I don't think we should be confined to this size. It might be easy to get all the info on a 3x5 note card or even bigger if we have to. We could always get a file card box to place them in. I do realize that the bigger the cards the less we get on a page, but I do like the picture of the minis instead of the silhouettes. Even though we could have the stat pages printed off from the back of the army books it might be easier to have it all on the 'back' side of the card. I the only argument I can see against using the pictures of the minis is that someone may be using proxies from a unit or even a whole army, so in the end their company won't look the same. Does that make sense? Or did I lose you? Anyways, so we don't need to keep the same size as the old cards, so what size would be best? trading card 3x5s, 5x8s or bigger(!)? I don't think we should use the silhouettes due to copy rights, We have pictures of the minis from the army books so lets use them. as to the 'back' of the cards, if we use a bigger card, then we could maybe fit the stats there and use the back for broken units that has broken on it the picture (just fewer of them) and the stats. This is just my 2 cents worth. I like this card and how it goes so well with the army book. It begs to be printed in color and that might be an issue with some due to the cost of printing a set of them, however, I think they are very professional looking and match the book and I believe that is the whole intention of the Gold series, is it not? In the end we will either love and use the end product or we will hate it and either make our own or use the old cards on the netepic org site.

It is a shame we can't use the silhouettes, they are simple and easy to understand (I may stick with them for making my own personal cards).
The problem I think with using actual pictures of the models is that when scaled down to whatever card size we go with, the images aren't very clear. For example, I just opened up the Airborne Card in Adobe and zoomed out so the front of the card was about 6cm x 8.5cm on my monitor screen and the units aren't easy to see. Part of that I guess is to do with the large amount of units and there is a lot of green with the bases, models and background. To make things clearer I would keep the background white so it doesn't distract from the models.
As much as seeing the models would be nice, could we just use a simple symbol to identify a stand of whatever? Obviously there is a lot of work there to create symbols to represent every possible stand/vehicle.

Been playing around with my army card mock up again and did one with the stats on the back to make things less cramped.

Give it to me baby :spin
very nice, excellent work
I would love to return to cards
since so many new units have no cards at all,
I stopped using them
To run evrey 3rd time to the computer to look at the stats sucks, though.

My art skills are a little lacking, but there might be someone out there who could knock up some silhouettes of the new units/models ;D

Hi!

Mattman, you make a set of cards for netepic in your style and I'll make sure they get uploaded and recommended as usable with netepic gold.

Thanks!

Cheers Primarch.

Still tweaking the design and layout, but when I get to the point I am happy with it and I can make it easy to modify for the other cards I will send them through.

Hi!

I'll have both types up. Netepic is always about options.... :)

Whenever you ready Mattman, I like the old school look of the cards and I think they are more printer friendly as well. Its good to give people a choice of style.
