How's this for a snappy ork weapon then folks?!
Having searched in vain for that forgotten old favourite the snapper, I decided to build my own, out of various ork tank parts mostly, with a few little panels. The model also has a new tractor beam eye mount and a couple of other extra bits. SNAPPY SNAPPY!!

This mutha will get his first outing tomorrow evening. Unfortunately my opponent is a tactical genius. Still, this might give him a scare. This kind of thing is also why I love NetEpic- it preserves all those lovely customizable weapon combinations & details.

I wonder if anyone can suggest a name- preferably something crude/pointlessly hostile/tasteless. I'm leaning towards "Kaptin Snapper".

Not bad Warhead. Or how about "DA SNAPPA SCRAPPA SLAPPER"?
Imagine the beast going on a tank smashing run, spewing filthy steam onto a few dozen marines before chewing an enemy titan's leg off?
I'd almost forgotten that the snappa also gives you 3d6cm extra movement on Charge orders too.
Our house rules have also done away with that silly "gargants must charge nearest opponent" rule too- although we do insist on these beasts moving into close combat if at all possible on a charge.

You just got to love Gargants for the lovable brutes they are.

How about THE JAWS OF GORK! seein' az MORK gits a mention in the ol' Hed department maybe GORK duz iz thinkin' wit sumit else?
I wouldn't mention anything like Steaming Blow Jobz cause that just isn't Orky as far as any of the background fluff I've ever read goes. Unless you paint lipstick on th...    no, definitely not.

EDIT: Ever thought of trying steam coming out the mouth (small strands of cotton wool) Just a thought... er, ok shutting up.

It's a case of trying to leave the thing alone at the moment- you know how it goes, one modification leads to another, which leads to... eventual lunacy. Sometimes there's an art in knowing when to stop and say "finished".
I like the idea of the thing smoking threateningly though- or maybe a few streaks of black ink to give the effect of something dank & oily. Hopefully this will be the last thing my enemies see before... Hisssss...SNAP! :vD

I absolutely agree. I usually try to add late ideas to the next one I do as I gain confidence. I think the paint job is a good 'un. I personally wouldn't change it now in case I messed up but that's just me. I'm not to hot at painting yet.
I like the idea of a terrapin snapping turtle type Snapper pistoning out like the jaws of one of the ALIENS in a sudden lunge and smashing through armour before ripping something apart. Nasty!

Thanks for all your responses gents. I think a second ripper fist would be bordering on deranged- but then again, just think what a beast it would be in close combat!

Anyways, the Snappy One has just had his first battle. To be honest it was a freeaky one. My opponent fielded a very unbalanced force (three whole companies of Space Marine scouts and seven thunderhawks in a 2500 point game anyone?!!) Technically he had won on turn one, since marines were closest to every objective on the table!

However, we decided to play on, since no single ork unit was broken and almost all the objectives were being contested. Turn two was very different. A bloodbath for the Blood Angels no less. Mr Snapper vaporised no less than EIGHT stands of marines plus one lot of unlucky boyz in a huge gout of steam. It was like a turkish bath of death!

From a point of sportsmanship we called it a draw- but a strange game, for the record. Technically my opponent had every objective turn one- but no way of sustaining this. The gargant was untouched when we called it quits. I'm hoping for a more balanced game next time on!!

Ah, the Cheddar Cheese award winner for this month goes to Mr Scout and T-Hawks of Doom.  We used to have a player that did that in the old days....Assault companies in Drop Pods too.  Nobody would play the git after a very short period of time.

One of the few Optional Rules we do use is the "Controlling Objectives" one, and it does stop that sort of behaviour somewhat.
