THE CHRISTMAS UPDATE IS HERE
Yes, as a Christmas present to the sci-fi wargaming community, Josh and Glenn have worked extra hard to expand the Alpha scenario to make it BIGGER and BETTER.

To those who have pre-ordered, here’s what you can look forward to when you next start the EW:FE Alpha and let it patch the game:

  • SMALL BEHEMOTHS ARE NOW IN THE GAME!!
  • You can now play the game in hotseat multiplayer -- so you can try those Small Behemoths for yourself!
  • The larger scenario offers a lot more units to play with and requires you to use a lot more of the map -- manoeuvre warfare!

Also, there’s now a FREE DEMO that runs in web browsers -- you can SHOW your friends how awesomely EW:FE is coming along! :D

From all of us at Membraine Studios, have a very happy holiday season, and we of course hope to see you on the FracturedEmpire.net forums! :)

An iPad version is something we very much want to do, but there will be a significant wait.

Right now, our focus is on the Windows, OSX and (soon-ish) Linux builds, which all share very similar UIs. iOS has a unique UI, of course; we're not yet developing for touch controls as we think it's better we build on the game's features at this stage in development.

I recommend iPad gamers sign up for our newsletter on http://FracturedEmpire.net so we can keep you updated. :)

Thanks for the kind comments, Lead-Space, and really glad you like it already. :)

Yes, there is a huge amount of work to do -- just in terms of rules implementations, we've just to include all kinds of things, from the Close Assault order, to full Suppression rules, to off-map support, to air and space supremacy -- it's a huge challenge.

We're really looking forward to getting that stuff into the game as soon as we can, though, while also expanding the number of maps and scenarios available in the Alpha.

Had a question for you groover, i was thinking that this is based around a you vs another person board game. But me being the elite i hate losing want to know everything about every army i play and go against kind of friendly gamer that i am. Will this be single player vs computer as well? Or do you need an opponent?

Hi Blindhorizon,

There's already a rudimentary AI in the current build, which Andy is tightening up right now (this is actually one of the more significant things holding up the next release—turns out doing AI well is really hard; who knew?). ;)

Because of the nature of indie games, we've always known that Exodus Wars: Fractured Empire would have to be a solid single-player experience. Multi-player is very much a key part of our strategy for the game, but the single-player needs to be able to hook the player—especially those who don't know anything about miniatures wargaming.

For this reason, we've developed a full single-player storied campaign that allows you to play out both sides. The first implementation of that campaign will be in a forthcoming build.

Let me know if you have more questions. :)

Cheers!
Mark
