Some really cool thumbnails there. I second the war tortoise!

I really like the look of the dwarf in greatcoat with the beast of burden. Also both of the bird riders, definitely the kind of vibe I want to capture.

Hey! Thanks for all the comments!

@McJakub - Glad you like em. The original dwarf sketch is still my favourite. I have some troubles with the line but more about that shortly.

@Legion 4 - THanks!

@Apocolocyntosis - Hah! yes! I think something like a war tortoise would be awesome. I will explore that someday.

@thedespot29 - Definetly. Liek i said above the original dwarf sketch is still my favourite. I have not yet tried to develop more human factions beside the nomads.

@stroezie - I think the centipede is already in the making or at least in planning :D

OK here are the promised dwarf sketches. I still have tons more, mostly infantry, but can't seem to find them. Moving a two artist household is a pain. So much paper...

Like stated before the dwarfs are the most advanced and aggressive faction. They utilize a modern mixed arms strategy and also have mixed race regiments.

thedespot29 and I discussed about involving more fantasy elements so it wont look to nromal. But I did only achieve to incorporate more generic cliched symbols and shapes. like the stylised faces. I do like the stripe armour thou.
I would like to start over with them. Back to jsut the guy and the beast of burden. What do you think?

First I will put up everything i have/find. After that I will flesh out one faction. I am not sure what tickles me but I wil lgo with the flow. Forcing me didn't work all to well in the past.

I am glad oyu like it. It is very rough and unfiltered I will add more sketches and try to polish them.

___________________________________________________________________________

An faction i really really like are the orks. These initial sketches werer made in one evening in a frantic burst of creativity. I will adapt them into a less conventional look. Sorry that they are on graph paper.

I have some more sketches but they are really bad to read. I will redraw them. Others are still missing.

What do you think?

I feel like they are a little bit too fantasish. I would make them more modern.
Imo the orks from 40k universe can share some similarities to make them look orky. I know you want the balance between fantasy and dieselpunk, I know it would be hard to get enough but not too much from these both.

I like how big creatures look with artillery on them.

Ooops, forgot the goblers. Added them now. The gobblers will be changing in appearance a bit. But t really like the Ork visuals so far.

I agree in some aspects. Mainly the weapons. The cannon and some of the rifles look way to old. That said they only recently started weapon manufacturing in a larger scale. So lots or the equipment is personal.
I am not sure if that many close combat units make sense. Maybe change them into some kind of scouts/raiding party? More granades and definetly more handweapons for them.

The Creature are my favourite :)

I have only read very few of Troy comics. Mostly Troll of Troy but it has indeed a franco belgian comic vibe to it which are major influences on my design.

I think Orks are close range specialist and they should have a lot of meele weapons like bayonets hammers or WWI trench warfare weapons. Also the ranged weapons guys should have some ammo pouches or bandoliers.

Goblers look like ACW soldiers ;)

I really like them, especially the wolf (with what looks like a Gatling gun on his side!)

I like the slightly more fantasy aspect to them. I would have said there is more than enough orc miniatures in the world, and that a different race would be a better focus- BUT this is an excellent assortment, especially the menagerie of beasts! I think they look great as-is, including the weapons. It has a nice mix of fantasy and modern with out just being more 40k orks (which are not needed!)

If you get this range made in to minis, then I'd buy a nice box full! Some to add in to my 40k orks, some to add in to m fantasy orcs, some to make in to a dungeon spawn team, and then some just to make in to their own thing! Lots of uses for these! (You might have to call them something like orukcsz though as ork, orc, orruk, uruk and probably countless other spellings are all taken! :P )

Oh, I intend to keep lots of the meele weapons, but I want mixe them up with more short range weapons. The Orks are not really engaged in trench warfare so they are more geared towards fighting in the enourmous woods they call home.
Don't worry! All will get lots of pouches and in general many things that will be dangling around. If you squint your eyes you can already see lots of scribbly lines that pretend to be pouches. :P

Thanks, Legion! I don't know more than you about it :D I am just the concept artist. What I can say that for now the concepts are finished if they get eadditional units I will make them. I could post some sketches I and the finished concepts here as well. Would make sense i think.
But production itself is completly in the hands of a Despot. :P

Thanks! And yes, making them more unusuall is important to make the line distinct. 6mm definetly need some more non generic stuff an Mircoworld is so far the best place for that in my opinion. One of the reasons I am very happy to work with them. :)

We will see. Best way to make them reality is to buy lots of miniature from Microworld :D

If Microworld didnt have funds to make this new range, i think they can do Kickstarter project, but I might be wrong.
