But what rules do you play for 6mm?

I can recommend both "Hordes of the Things" and "Mayhem".

The first one is rather abstract and the rules are hard to decipher, but the gameplay is tactically challenging and really streamlined. For instance, you don't need any markers or counters.

Mayhem is a bit more complicated, but it also has more flavour.

Mayhem every day over Hordes of the Thing! :)
Better support, more depths while still simple base.

Mayhem has some army lists (in support of a popular army builder app) but the core army builder rules are universal and allow for a bucket load of 'themes' to fit any type of army flavour or model range.

On top of that, Mayhem has a fresh feel to it to might appeal to some players looking for something different but might put other off who want a system similar to what they are used to.

Our club is just about to start the summer season for Mayhem.
Army blogs and battle reps soon to come. :)

I am a big supporter of 6mm KoW. Microworld games made me able to play KoW a realiality with how affordable it is.

Currently I own 3k+ Dwarves 3k+ Undead (painted and based both) then 3k+ Dark Elves and 3k+ Abyssals with both being WIP.

I'll post pics to see basing. I order from Litko though: Rectangular Miniature Bases: 20x40 mm
(Material: 1.5mm Plywood, Pack Size: 100)

On each base I do 2 rows of 5 guys. So 2 stands is a regiment, 4 stands a horde. War machines I split the 20x40 into 20x20 and put 1 per base. Heroes are split again from 20x20 into 10x10 bases (yea super small)

I´m intending to use KoW when I get to chance to play with my 6mm minis, would be interesting to play some massive battles with it.

For those who are curious, I painted them all up, and they look pretty good! One army down, one more to go...

Hordes of the things for me every time at the moment. Simple, interesting, very geared to getting a result within a time frame, but with a fair variety of troop types. I have a large collection of mostly microworld 6mm, geared for use with HOTT in a very limited time frame. Check my blog - link posted here under 6mm Martian Alliance, which is my current project, using the Microworld wildlands, demons and some irregular, some onslaught stuff.

Loving the figures gentlemen both the martians and the demons of pancakeonions (particularly liked the soul shard). Does anyone have any pictures of painted 6mm zombies or ghouls, looking for inspiration please post. Thanks

Those are on my "to do" list, and I'll make a note here when I get them up.

Cheers!

Very nice, but the soul shard is definitely the standout! The flame demons came out great too.

I still think HOTT is best at the moment (I do foresee a time when I have time for a more time-consuming game), but Mr Pancakeonions, I concede, your stuff is way better than mine. Indeed some things there I have to try and copy. The soulshard cart is an extraordinary creation. Very inspiring.

Aw shucks guys, thanks. The one tricky bit was cutting the werebat feet off the base. I used very sharp (new) hobby clippers, worked carefully, and kept telling myself that at 6mm, it didn't need to be perfect. I basically cut the edges around the feet, so it looked like they were wearing platform shoes, then snipped off the platforms. I also use magnifying glasses (an optivisor) so I could see what I was doing. The drilling bit was fairly straightforward. I was pleased with how it came out!
