Greetings, My name is Lord Marcus. You may have seen me around the web. My entire reason for setting up an account on this forum is for this sub-board. ![]() ![]() I currently have my first order in transit from Microworld, and cannot wait to get started. I have tested a paint scheme on some samples I got a while back, and have everything set and ready to get to work. This will be my first foray into 6mm scale, and I think I made a great choice going with Microworld. I have plans to eventually buy some 6mm historicals to play games of Hail Caesar, but that is for later. Undead first ![]() Vivat Mortis, Vivat Microworld! ![]() |

Good to read and welcome to the forums. I, too, have jumped into Microworld and have some of their beastkin and wood elves. I feel that Kings of War is a better game at smaller scales, so you might be onto something there. As for me, I'm not sure which system I will use, and am developing my own simple (almost beer-and-pretzels...almost--more DBA/HoTT with a more for options in it); with my Warbands mounted onto round bases. Being as easily distracted as I am, my system probably will lay unfinished and unplayed until doomsday. That is, unless someone can sell me on a system that already exists, that's only a slightly more complicated than DBA/HoTT. |

Kings is not all that complicated. As I said, I'm using standard 28mm unit frontages and such, for really big armies ![]() |

That will be quite a bit of tiny miniatures to fit those frontages. Have fun with that project ![]() |

What are the normal frontages and depths for KoW? |

For standard infantry 10 models = 5 x 2 100 mm x 40mm 20 models, 5 x 4 = 100mm x 80mm 40 models 10 x 4 = 200mm x 80mm those are the frontages for troops, regiments, and hordes in descending order. There are exceptions (like orcs and zombies) that can (and in the case of the orcs do) have larger frontages, but those are the basics of infantry |

Kings of War works around 10 models in 2x5 just use one base as one of these units two as a twenty man regiment four as a horde etc will probably work rather nicely it's what I'm planning to do with mine I used 25mm square bases as their easy to get hold of and 20mm bases only hold about 5 troops. |

Here's my micro world beastkin, I don't feel you need to pack them too tight to get the feeling of large amount of troops. ![]() These are based on 20mmx40mm |

MrGonzo wrote: Welcome Lord Marcus! I am looking forward to things to come! ![]() You'll definitely see things develop! @BlindHorizon thanks for the info. I have a supplier of magnetic bases which I think i will stick with for now, but good to have another manufacturer on my list of such ![]() |
