They look great already!
My only suggestion would also be trying a wash and some highlighting to ad more depth to the basing material.
That should be doable without getting too much onto the figures?!

Looking forward to the hoard building up! :)

Should be, and will probably be tried tonight after work. :)

Update!

Horde based. Not the best but I think they look decent. suggestions as to prettying it up if needed?

Are the above bases done with the regular or fine grain?
I have been using the same basing material for probably 5-6 years, but am now running out. The kind I used is no longer available, so any info is helpful as I need something with really small grains to fit 6mm.

Galeforce nine fine basing grit, so I'd assume fine grain.

Just a quick update to let you all know I'm still here. I decided to do a few quick 28mm models to treat myself after the horde, and am now begining the next group of skellies. More to come soon.

for my MWG undead i used vallejo textured paste, painted it (base colour, glaze black, drybrush) and then some bits of clump foliage, example: http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o354 ... CF5217.jpg

What paste do you use? Vallejo seems to sale a whole bunch of different kinds of them.

And those skeletons are adorable ;D

Been watching this thread since the start and seen some 6mm talk over in the mantic forums!!

for my basing i use budgie grit from the pet shop, then just paint it and wash it and add some static grass I have been using

decor plus 2mm available in about 4 different colours available from antencitis workshop.

I downloaded the free rules from mantic just to use for my microworld fantasy

Im going to use the 28mm size bases so a troop would be 100 x 20 and (krud-re)giment would be 100 x 40

my cavalry troop will be 125 x 40 individual heros 20 x 20 and monsters 50 x 50

im thinking of using

mantic microworld
Ax orc spears and warriors
Great ax orc brutes
morax orc spears and warriors
sniffs orc bows
trolls orges (dark alliance)
gore riders orc boar riders
fight wagons armored behemoth
gore chariots lesser behemoth
sharp sticks goblin spears
krudger orc command
krudger on (winged) slasher
krudger on chariot individual based gore rider
flagger orc banner from command pack
wip the half cast shaman from orc command

so guess who got a girlfriend over Christmas, and who has been painting gifts for her? slow progress on the skellies, steady. Updates as I can, apologies for the waits.

Hi guys! So, pictures coming later tonight, but the previously mentioned skeleton unit is done and based, and two character stands are done. I've also been working through some of my enormous pile of 28mm figures, as well as school, life, and a girlfriend eating up time.

I apologize for the slow pace of updates. I'm working on making things resume soonish.

Don't beat yourself up on the slow pace, I know I get sidetracked all the time. I'm afraid telling my girlfriend I have lots of triceratops-men to paint doesn't seem to be a good enough excuse for us not to see eachother for a few nights...

ok, for once I should be on time with the following:

pictures of progress tonight
Also tonight: getting the remaining skeletons ready for painting
soonish (in a week or so) state of the army shot and plans for the future
after that I have a week vacation in missisipi (GULF WARS WOOOHOOO)
And then! I should be placing a follow up order.

Going on a vacation for two weeks, get back and will have a massive order of 28mm greeks waiting for me but i plan to knock the rest of my 1st order microworld stuff out. Watch this space and please comment!

Hi yall,

Still on my trip, but wanted to give a quick update:

plan for after trip (get back the week of the 20th):

Rapid fire the remaining pieces of undead order 1

Make a slightly larger order for undead as my second order

possibly add some dwarves to said order, depending on remaining funds

all of this while working at my day job.

Honestly, the undead should not take that much time to paint up, so i should be good to go to expand towards the end of next week.

Hi Max,
long time no see!

Those skeletons are looking good. Would a devlan mud wash work on minis that size, because that might add even more depth.

Nice to see there are still KoW in the background.
