For the undead cav i was thinking you can just snip the rider off at the waist, snip a standard bearer off at the waist (and carefully cut the base of the banner from the base) and do it that way, saves drilling/removing the sword. The banner skeleton won't match the armour of the cav though, so depends if you mind about that as a detail.

Could maybe use styrene rod if you can't find brass, but it's easy to source online as Rex has said.

Two very good ideas! Thanks Apoc!

The second group of 20 skeletons is primed. Painting shall occur tommorow night as I have studying to do tonight. Blasted French 1 Final! :P

Bases were confirmed as shipped yesterday, so hopefully they arrive tomorrow.

Further Developments! My bases have arrived, but I have found that the grain of my basing material is one size larger then what I had intended to pick up. honest mistake that will be remedied tomorrow.

But enough of that, 1rst Regiment on bases. Pic of enlargment to horde after dinner!

Possibly slightly off-topic, but you've inspired me a bit to actually start on my beastkin and wood elves. Got 5 stands each of them done...however:

I just realized that I can't see to paint anymore. At least not very well. I have reading glasses, and that helps when reading, but for painting all it does is bring the blurry details closer to my face. But still slightly blurred.

My stuff looks like crap now (especially the beastkin), and I used to win painting contests at the drop of a hat. Sigh...old age and all that.

Anyway, thanks for the inspiration. I'll post pics someday this week onto my blog.

What bases did you order that were one grain size too large?

Basing material. I use basing material from a number of sources that I have been able to pick up over the years (been in the wargaming hobby for 10 now) and I have been using Galeforce nine's basing material mostly because I can get it local for a decent discount.

Galeforce nine has two levels of material, regular and fine. I accidentally picked up regular last week instead of fine. This is A-ok because I can use the regular stuff for my 28mm undead, but I need the fine stuff for my 6mm.

Which, I am quite happy to report, I picked up. :) BASING NIGHT~

P.S. Basing is one of the few aspects of the hobby I tend to least enjoy, but it does have its merits.

I do watered down glue over the top to seal it then I paint it and highlight it. Add flock and grass as desired. I'll post a pick of my completed undead stands soon

for my MWG undead i used vallejo textured paste, painted it (base colour, glaze black, drybrush) and then some bits of clump foliage, example: http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o354 ... CF5217.jpg

I'm a little bit apprehensive about glazing it with glue, or even painting over it because I don't want to ruin thier paint jobs.

I always varnish my mini's, but I'm waiting for a few more stands before I push on with that, so there is time to add to the basing.

Coincidentally, next stand is on the priming table.

They look great already!
My only suggestion would also be trying a wash and some highlighting to ad more depth to the basing material.
That should be doable without getting too much onto the figures?!

Looking forward to the hoard building up! :)
