MS1 Pathmaster
I have in my grubby hands the RDF's first AFV.
It is a 3d model print.

The MS1 Pathmaster.

Comprised of the IFV Pathfinder and the MS Command Module, the MS1 Pathmaster is designed for all terrain patrols.
The Pathfinder shown here features the Pilum Missile Pods, a Grenade Machine Gun option is also available (that means on my desk still being made)

The IFV Pathfiner can accept crew and 5 fully equipped RDF troopers.
(these guys carry a LOT)

The MS Command Module is designed to be left in the field and houses a self contained life support system and sophisticated Command and Control facility as well as reinforced cargo storage areas.
Very handy for storing ammo and fuel and kibble for those extra long patrols.

Both sections that make up the MS1 Pathmaster are fully amphibious.

Anyway, enough half thought out waffle.
This will be send to the casters next week, once I have finished sanding down the print lines.
The master may or may not be good enough for my standards, if it is not then the master will be touched up and a new set of masters made.
This will of course be costly and take time, but like with my RDF infantry I only want to sell the very coolest!

Great to see a line where the vehicles are actually true scale to the grunts! :)

Nice looking. I might have to use these as Elysian proxies - the size is much better than what I have now.

I never know what to think when I read comments about scale and armor either. It all depends on how big the vehicle is supposed to be in the game per the fluff.

In the 'real world', most armored vehicles tend to eschew Winnebago like dimensions and comfort so to present a smaller target.

By the way, nice looking models AB, and kudos for taking the time to minimize the print lines.

As for the scale of the vehicles, I think they are a tad bit large. But I also think this is what most people rather have. They visually present more of an object on the game table in a small scale and people seem prefer the concept of unsardine like seating arrangements for the squad.

Cheers, some 6mm vehciles have very clear print lines on the finished model.
I want to try and avoid that, even if it means casting a master and then cleaning that up...

In most games the infantry are oversized to their vehicles. Case in point, Epic and 40k are notorious for this :)
These are pretty much right in scale to each other and I that is awesome.

And yes Westside, as small a target as you can reliably get is a general rule but there's only so small you can really get. A good example is an M1 Abrhams (pretty close though a bit shorter to a Challenger 2 for our British friends) and that's still about 9.5 meters long if you include the main gun! I mean in no way does a Leman Russ tank have the same proportional size to 4 or 5 epic minis laid down head to toe :)

Sorry for running with this AB (and no disrespect intended jimmyzimms), but I feel compelled as a fan of Epic minis.

I also think a reason that some size discrepancy does occur (which it surely does) is that when your dealing with smaller scales, and Epic, 6mm, etc. are pretty small, it can be to the miniature designers benefit (depending on the style of sculpt an individual prefers visually and for paintability) to exagerate/make 'heroic' certain element of the miniature for aesthetic appeal and ease of visual ID while playing the game itself ;)

Vehicles normally look smaller when compared to figures.
The problem is that vehicles can be modelled to scale but figures can not.

Let us assume that 1mm = 1 foot.

On this basis it is fairly easy to get a vehicle to be the right size.

However infantry can be the right height but not the right width.
6mm infantry always look too big when placed next to a proper scale vehicle.
I have just measured my forearm and it is just over 4" wide.
Which is 1/3rd of a foot.
Sooo using the assumption that 1mm = 1 foot the arms on a 6mm figure should be about 0.33mm wide.
This is simply not possible.
I have just measured some of my 6mm troops and they are about 3mm wide at the shoulders.
I am not aware of many people that are 3 foot wide.

So we have the situation where in order to make 1/300th figures robust they must be bigger in 'chunkiness' than their vehicle counterparts which can be the right size as they are essentially just chunks of lead and be 0.33mm smaller without compromising sturdiness.

As such infantry already look bigger than they should next to a vehicle unless you oversize the vehicles o match the ovesized figures.
