Post subject:  Squat Collection Advice.

I'm thinking about starting a squat army now that my Imperial Guard are approaching done (in collection if not painting) and my gaming groups communal orks and eldar are getting close. I've had enough of the scouring ebay lark and want to have a go at collecting my next army new. Oviously GW don't make squats anymore but I want to stick really close to the original asthetic if possible. That pretty much means buying Khazari from Netepic.

As far as I can tell, his EW series seems to have the warriors, thunderers, characters, bikes, trikes and mortars covered quite nicely. I have a few GW robots already. While they are not that close a match for the ironeagle, I love Khazari Valkyrie MKII Patrols, so I'd use them. The Prussian Empire Pflicht Class Scoutships from Dystopian wars would give me Overlords I'd be happy with.

This link that some kind soul posted on another thread has made some nice goliaths, but I can't work out what they are based on.

The help I need is two fold. Are there any decent playable armies that can be built from those and if not are there any good proxies for what is needed. I know this is very short on war engines and they are sort of the whole point of the squats...

Cheers :-)

Rhinos are easy to come by. Plastic ones are practically given away. Tunnelers seem important, and while expensive you never know what clever person around here comes up with a way of supplying the community. Ahem! (clears throat) Anyway...

Thunderfires are a must. If you can't find them a proxy is definitely important to grab. At least one Super Heavy is important; you can always do counts-as for the Collosus, Cyclops, and Leviathan. Somebody else came up with a great Land Train using other pieces, but I cannot recall which line they came from. I'll try to find it.

I feel dirty commenting on the squat forums, but I happen to remember seeing someone use Dystopian Wars Prussian Empire tanks and/or bombards as cars for a land train. They looked pretty darn cool, and that's from someone who has no love for the squats :P

I bought the german land vehicles set for dystopian wars and have converted a collosus from the land ship. I also made a land train using the tanks and artillery. I think they fit the part quite nicley. I'll post some pictures tomorrow when I have daylight.

cheers

for Goliaths, you need some old shampoo botttles: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthrea ... tle-Cannon

Support legs and base should be quite easy to do with plasticard

for tunnellers: if you can find a suitable vehicle, plasterboard rawlplugs are very useful:

Rofl.
Do you need both the delivery vehicle and the emerging drill to use these mining machines?
I was thinking about using the drill but from the EW mining machine, but not the walker itself, as they are available separately. I have no idea on the scale though.

Honestly the delivery vehicle at this time is not being considered for tournament rules to simplify play. That means a screw coming out of the ground or sitting on the table will be sufficient.

Termites are very small - about 3mm thick and just over a centimeter long.
Moles are larger - around 2.5cm long and perhaps 7mm thick (from memory).
Hellbores are the big mommas - I might be able to assist you on that. PM me.
