I know It's been brought up before, but i didn't really see any responses to it.

What are the thoughts on adding in warhounds and reavers but with an alternative loadout?

Something like a warhound armed with inferno guns.

Something that follows the "flames and purging" for the SOB while giving them a unit that has a higher survivability. But staying away from the sit back and shoot tactics while adding something that's a centerpiece model that's not the chapels... because frankly they aren't worth the points currently, and i can't see a reason to ever field them.

I wanted to thin the unnecessary elements from the list and theme wise represent the mistrust with the Mechanicum in the Inquisition and SoB. As for the chapels/cathedrals I had lots of guff for neffing them, however they now fit their points cost.

Cool, thanks for the reply, sorry if i keep asking a lot of questions, just trying to get some of the idea right in my head.

The decision to have inquisitor warbands in Arvus Lighters, why was this made?
Surely an inquisitor and his warband would travel around in something that could actually deal damage and wasn't just a skimming metal coffin? Something like the Valkyrie? Imperial Armor 2 lists Inquisitors as having Valkyries.
Also why not give them aircraft, make the warband an actual threat by being able to air assault them into a location?

Yeah I know what you mean about the arvus light it is rubbish, this might be remedied by making them all the aquila lander to keep the inquisition feel (the stats need changing to AV 5+ CC 6+ FF 5+ with chin multi-laser).
As for the aircraft I was playing with that idea for the SoB but it didn't work, but having some available is a possibility (any suggestions?), maybe something small in a pair.

I'd be happy to see them all changed to the Aquila Lander.
As for some kind of aircraft, through the fluff I don't see many options, except for maybe something for the Inquisitor and his retinue again though I'd love something for actual Sister formations. (Mind you we should use fluff as a guideline, not a major ruling. GW has barely touched the sisters in years after all and we don't wish to stagnate)

Maybe something like the Storm Eagle?
It's been tested pretty extensively here in Australia in the Heresy supplement amongst a large number of groups and we've found it to be pretty balanced
These are the stats pulled out of the pdf

Storm Eagle Gunship Wing
125 pts ea

Storm Eagle Assault
Type: AC/WE
Speed: Fighter Bomber
Armour: 5+
CC/FF: 6+/5+

Weapons:
Vengeance Launcher 45cm 1BP, FxF
Tempest Rockets 60 cm AP5+/AT5+, FxF
Twin-Linked Heavy Bolter 30cm AP4+/AA5+, FxF

DC1, Planetfall, Reinforced Armour. Transport: (May carry 4 of the following units:
Breacher, Tactical, Assault, Support, Reconnaissance or Terminators. Terminators take up 2
spaces each.)

Honestly we could limit it to 0-1 formation. Max 2 in the unit.

This would permit it to carry a formation of Sisters without rhino support, or an Inquisitor and his retuine

I really think that's stretching plausibility. It's noted that Marines have just started getting them back let alone anyone else. Also there's never been a single case of any fluff of anyone using marine flyers but marines. if we need an air-transport, give'em Valks/Vultures.

Not really interested in 30k stuff, thunderhawks maybe or thunderhawk transporters. Like I said before SoB air assault aircraft is a bit OTT having fearless flyers with inv saves (faithful rule), it would have to be Inquisition related.

I'm preferring to give them to just the Inquisitor and his warband anyway, and looking at IA2 Inquisitors can get Thunderhawks as well. Though I'd prefer them just to have the Valks/Vultures. Or all Aquilla Landers (Any chance on these being aircraft not skimmers?)

The Aquila Lander is noted as aircraft in the Lexicanum however it runs along the lines of Valks/Vultures in epic, atm I think the Aquila should remain as a skimmer. I was thinking of including rhinos/razorbacks as transport option for the Inquisitorial warband having valks as well would be viable.

Just adding in my 2p here on the valks/vult/aquilla lander/arvus debate!

From a fluff perspective I get the idea that the inquisitor himself would indeed probably fly about in an Aquila Lander, it being for VIP's etc. However, as the rest of his warband probably isn't quite as important as him and as such I could imagine them getting lumped with the arvus lighters as a makeshift transport. The Aquila is described as being for high ranking officers, so I doubt there would ever be a squadron or so of them around in one place, whereas the arvus is the workhorse shuttle and presumably there are far more of them to be 'requisitioned'. I own the 40k version of the Aquila and there is actually only one big throne like seat in the rear compartment, (though there is space for others to stand up in I guess) so it really is a prestige vehicle. As it stands I like the set up for the landing party upgrade, but I am probably a little biased as I like the Arvus miniature and own enough of them to be sad if it got changed!

The landing party is an upgrade available for the inquisitorial warband, but you could have it listed like the Sisters transport option, i.e-

1 x Aquila and 3 x Arvus - 75
4 x Valkyrie - 150 (price based on the stormtrooper upgrade from the Steel Legion list)

Keeps everyone happy, doesn't add too many new things to the list and fluffy at the same time!

You could potentially open up this upgrade to the inquisitorial stormtrooper guys too (if there were eight of them?) or instead make the Valkyrie an upgrade to their chimeras listed in the unit option (100 points for 3 or something).

In terms of all the other options (bikes, thunderhawk style transports, allied warhounds etc) I am by no means a Sisters of Battle fluff expert, but I thought they were basically a loophole by being all female (the Ecclesiarchy cannot maintain any "men under arms") and while they are a competent fighting force I always imagined they would have some fairly limited scope of wargear and deployment options compared to space marines for instance.

Yeah that would be the sort of thing I was planing, also make the Arvus skimmer a bit better. It seems silly to me that the Arvus has no anti-personal weaponry at all, even civilian vehicles would have basic devices to deter unwanted attention. So I recon it should have a 6+ FF to represent anti-personal weaponry and a mounted heavy stubber for a bit of firepower.

Planning on having a couple of games in the next few weeks. Mainly to give the Inquisitorial warbands a outing with the landing party and to spam the penitent henchmen which is my main concern, I'm going for 4 in each warband having the other 4 as basic warrior henchmen for protection with better save.

This is my 3k list.
Mission 250 Canoness SC 100 BTS
Mission 250 Priest 50
Coven 200 Repressor 50
Coven 200 Repressor 50
Retribution 225
Exocism 250 Hunter 50
Exocism 250 Hunter 50
Inquisitorial Warband 200 Landing Party 75
Inquisitorial Warband 200 Landing Party 75
Lightning 150
Lightning 150
Penitence 175

On another point I used Sob at the campaign this weekend (wasn't using Inquisitor warbands) and they performed well against the orks even though we were grossly out numbered. The scenario was defend the hive city on a 6 by 12 foot table with 5k of feral and 5k of gazgall coming on from either end. My sisters had 3k and 3k of salamanders allies in the centre 6 by 4 foot with three objectives (we also had 2k of reinforcements) which was a great game. Any how I took a formation of chapels and they worked against their preferred enemy big formations of light vehicles, infantry and am happy with current stat line.

Still waiting for my minis to arrive, but test schemes are on.
This is the one I'm the most happy with so far. Just ordering custom transfers for the doors and roofs of the rhinos.

I had a game using sisters last friday and have reviewed the inquisitorial warband henchmen situation. They do need restricting too a certain amount per warband but will still be a free upgrade (except the deathcult assassin). I'm going to have another game with the same list (with the restricted henchmen) but use a very basic enhanced Avrus lighter and Aquilla lander, I will be going with the 6+ FF and fixed foward heavy stubber on the Avrus I will also give the Aquilla a 5+ FF and 6+ CC but will drop it's save too 5+.

BTW looking good Mard, I'm in the process of basing up all my AVs I have also gone with a white colour scheme.

Had another game tonight against nercons again using the landing party on the inquisitorial warband. The stats on the Avrus and Aquilla worked well. This is what I want to change them too.

Aquilla Lander
AV 5+/6+/5+
Chin Multilaser 30cm AP5+/AT6+/AA6+
Skimmer, Transport (2)
(no fixed forward on the Chin Multilaser)

Avrus Lighter
AV 5+/6+/6+
Heavy Stubber 30cm AP6+
Skimmer, Transport (2)
(no fixed forward on the Heavy Stubber)

I am also going to add some extra upgrades for the inquisitorial warband with option to take Valkyrie, Razorbacks and Rhinos I will update the list over the weekend.
