Hi all

Just joined the board and saying hello.I've viewed and enjoyed for years but never got around to posting.
I'm an old school collector with a really huge (mostly unpainted) collection and a fairly healthy knowlege on all things epic and fluffy >:D 8)

It seems only proper to start a topic so,
Anyone else get frustrated with the Horus heresy books and the original fluff ? In paticular, anyone read Thousand sons ? Don't wish to spoil it for anyone who's not but to those who have, don't you think a few more marines would of escaped prospero, like thosands more. They did go on to join the assult on Earth, the great scoring, the inter rebel legion wars in the Eye and probably hundeds of battles in between....

I know many writers maybe have not drooled over the back of the SM1 box and its rule book or the good old WD 105-130's like I did(well,do) but come on ! How can they get it so right but so wrong at the same time ?

>:D :

Welcome :)

I selectively read the HH books, but don't think all that much of them of GW/BL books in general really, I do read them, but while knowing there's a lot better out there I could/should be reading instead. I've not read more than the first page or two of TS yet so can't comment too much on that, but I will in time. Generally W40k fiction has big problems with scale and rampant heroism rather than realism though, realistically a company of marines would struggle to threaten a small town let alone an entire planet like they are often depicted.

Hiya

Yeah , I know the subject of scale and continuity has been kicked around for years but sometimes its good to vex.GW never use to be like that.
Its just i'm such a HH fan I get disapointed at such infractions. I collect my marines into regiments/chapters and am of the school of thought that legions number in the tens of thousands, not ten thousand.

Gav Thorp's ravens flight audio book is an easy listen(less effort than picking a REAL book up) and has some good scale to it.Check it out if you haven't done so all ready !

Thanx for the welcome GlynG.
