Alright, what I'll do is try and put together a fairly detailed system that will stand alone AND be useable in E:A. I'm not working for the next two days, so I'll see how far I get, and hopefully put a PDF on line somewhere soon.
Could be great, could be a disaster. Either way, be fun finding out!

I don't know if it'll be helpful but I made this not too long ago :

http://elf.planetquake.gamespy.com//Epi ... ts1.3e.pdf

It was an attempt to hash out independent points costs for Titan hulls & the weapon options, based on the AMTL 2.0 list, but with a few extra options.

I'd be happy to help with you working on an AT system, I really miss the flavour of the old titans!

One Rule to rule them all, One Rule to find them, One Rule to bring them all and in the darkness bind them?  ???

Just does not sound quite as good.  :p

I like the idea of it being all one system... But there's some levels of detail you just don't need, or want really, in a system like E:A. Different stating for various different servitors working each of the weapons. Coordination levels of the princepts to avoid having their titans stumble while running. That kinda thing, while neat in a titan-on-titan dual, would tend to make a game like E:A run extremely slowly whenever a titan is involved... Imagine it: "OK, I march my titan... I walk over this chunk of allied troops and across this river... That's four piloting rolls, I fail on the second so I fall over... Here... And take... Six points to my left arm, which causes a servitor to die, lowering my accuracy by 1 point on that weapon...". Now, I wouldn't be opposed to that kind of detail in smaller, more focused games involving titan-groups fighting eachother with just 4-5 on each side... But I would really NOT enjoy that kind of complexity in something like a standard E:A battle.

That was AT2. Unfortunately it turned out not to work very well with the rest of the Epic rules, so in a later copy of Firepower they suggested it should only be used on its own. Kinda defeated the object. I still play it from time to time though. And lose! Gargants are all but unkillable in AT2....

But if the third option in the poll had existed for a more detailed game that could be tied back to EpicA, then I would have voted for Nealhunt's choice. ?:D

As would I.

Off topic slightly but does anyone know where I can download the AD 2 pdf now the official link is gone from the GW site. (Not surprisingly really!)

Cheers

I think a detailed set of titan rules would be out of place amongst Epic A?s otherwise pretty streamlined rules.

Coming up with more detailed titans, more detailed criticals, and more flavorful weapons is not really that hard.

The hard part is to not have design-by-committee screw it up because arguments over balance, flavor, or what reference material to base stuff off of makes the end result a watered down mess.  While the stated reason for this thread is about the talked about, but never to be delivered, AT3, I think it points to the failure of the development of the AMTL army list.  If the AMTL army list were good, or progressing, then there wouldn't be any talk of an AT3.  People would be happily playing the AMTL army list and having a good time.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I'm nearly done typing up the rules we've used in conjunction with the AMTL list. One thing we have found is that it makes the AMTL slightly easier to beat!
As for balance etc. once these rules are posted, you can all try then a rip them to bits. Sorting out balance etc is what these forums are all about! ( well, okay, and having the odd moan now and again.)

Okay, here are a simple set of extra rules for Titans, in E:A, based on Codex Titanicus. We've used these for a while now, so we're used to them. Please try them out, and begin the endless alterations!

No campaign rules yet, still typing those up. And only Imperial Titans so far.

Core rules:

Imperial Titans: (basically a potted version of the AMTL2 list):

Let me know what you all think.

I'm impressed you wrote them so fast.
