Just look at the size compared to the IG trooper...

Let's hope the stats match the model in the new codex.  :)
WS 10, BS 10, W 10, T10, A10, I10! Please!  :;):

Fantastic!  Exactly how the Avatar should look.  Forge World do it again!

Now, let's get them to make some more stuff for Epic! :;):

Yep.  Rumor has it that the Avatar is buffed in the pending codex, making it closer to the Epic WE stats (though obviously not truly a WE via 40K rules).

Similarly, I've heard rumors that the chaos GDs would be buffed, again following Epic's lead to make them fit better with the background material.  The FW models are definitely headed that way.

And I have to say that with the previews of the new minis and the FW Avatar, I REALLY have an itch to build a new Eldar 40K army.

Impressive. Avatars and GDs should be huge compared to Guardsmen.

I went and looked again.

I wonder if my wife would notice if I dropped ~$600 on yet another army...  :p

Is that a rhetorical question?

I'm not that keen on the model.  The cracks are too big.  It looks like he is going to fall apart, rather than it just beinga molten metal skin.

I think paint-job would do wonders for that thing... make those cracked pieces look like chunky slabs of volcanic rock with the glow of lava shining through the cracks.

There was a report on Warseer that a 'Balrog paint job' was being applied to him.

I've held one in my hands... with a little work he'd be far, far better than the metal Avatar.

I was thinking that a balrog effect might work, but the cracks seem quite deep.  Though a balrog effect using water effect might work.

I agree with Chroma.  I'm thinking something like:

Prime it white.  Wash the cracks with bright yellow ink.  Paint the "plates" a pale red-gray like metal heated just barely to glowing.  Brush the edges of the plates black like the edges are cooler.

I've been thinking of a Biel-Tan style Eldar army with a unified theme of black undersuits and trim with only the armor being the traditional aspect colors.

The paint job is nice although I'm still not convinced it sells the model as well as it could have. It coule be the pic but I'd probably add more white to the cracks to make it look even more white hot. Also it'd be interesting to see some painted on light effects where the inner glow touches the outer parts of the body. The deepenss of the cracks could be a problm as it produces natural shadow - counterproductive when you actually want the cracks to look as if they're glowing. Buyers might consider filling in some of these cracks with some kinf of thin filler and then wipe off the excess to make the edges visible again.
