Alright. Any Blood Angels geeks out there? I've found that prior to the current Armageddon battle Tycho was inducted into the Death Company. Is the Death Company a real company in the chapter or just a catch-all name for Angels who have gone over to their rage? In the Armageddon Codex it says that there was 1 Blood Angel company at the onset of the war, I'm just wondering if they are all wearing the black or just a few members including Tycho. (I'm trying to build entire units from the battle) Thanks! |

IIRC, it's an ad hoc unit that is formed before the battle of those who have succumb to "the Rage" ... and most if not all are in black armor. Most do not survive too many battles. I could be wrong, but I have a Rgt of BA, UM, SW(x2), Sallies and DA ... my Avatar tells is all ! ![]() |

Yep, the Death Company is composed of those Blood Angels who succumb to the black rage just before battle. They are formed into their own unit which, despite of the name, is usually far smaller than a company. They are sent to spearhead assaults as they are so mad only the Chaplains can command them. If they don't die in battle they are put in the dungeons. |

Generally as per above, one of the previous versions of the rulebook had the death company as a 'fixed' company (as I remember offhand) but this has been removed in the rules as published. |

Ahah, that is probably where my confusion comes from. I haven't paid a lot of attention to fluff the past few years. Thanks all! |

Let me really "muddy the waters" and show my age ... awhile back in the fluff, there were rumors of Vampirism (or Vampyrism ?) among the Blood Angels !!! ![]() |

Legion... ...uh, you mean there isn't anymore? Honestly I haven't played 40k since it was called Rogue Trader. I still fondly remember tan plastic beakies and rhinos being three to a box. I still own a ton of 40k minis and have played ALL of the side games, but I just can't take the 40k ruleset. So all my fluff comes from the epic series of games, necromunda and the like. |

There still is. That's the second part of the curse of Sanguinius. It's called "Red Thirst" and it's because of that the BAs have numerous blood drinking rituals. The red thirst is caused by a mutation in the Omophagea in the gene seed of BAs. |

I always thought that was so funny. The whole Blood Angels and Vampire stuff came out durring one of GWs "Nothing is good, just shades of Evil" periods. They keep going from very dark to somewhat dark and back again. ![]() The closest they have come to a "good guy" was the Ultra marines. ![]() dafrca |

I've always liked the basically good but can be very nasty Blood Angels, that's why they're one of my armies, the good, clean Ultras that I also am building up are there for balance |

I don't play 40K (the rules are too "beer & pretzel" for me !), but I read the fluff because I get W/D (since '90!). G/W changes it's mind more than "a tart on prom night " ! ![]() ![]() |
