Hey there! Well, as you might know I decided to reformulate part of my background turning the Palman Empire into the Palman Sector, inside the Maelstrom (I posted an other message on that). The thing is, to make my life easier and break a little bit from the descriptive nature of the marine's fluff I decided to write some short stories to describe the sector. And who better to do so than a rogue trader? Well, the Imperials call him a "pirate", but he doesn't appreciate that labbel . He will be your guide in the diverse parts of the Palman Sector, starting with imperial space and entering inside the sector through the maelstrom. Fasten your seat belts and enjoy the ride. It announces to be a moved travel, I tell you ![]() +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Chase, Part One Zirkal Marewing was observing the process of storage. Standing in the bridge of the Storm Rider he could see the small transport ships transferring the cargo from the damaged imperial freighter into the rogue trader ships in a furious go and leave sequence. A pair of wreckage groups indicated where the imperial escort squadrons had fallen to the attack of the Storm Rider and its supporting escorts. It had been easy. The imperials had only detected them when they were over them. Zirkal smiled for himself and patted the railing under the Storm Rider?s observation screen. The ship was a true pinnacle of Onissian technology. He was very proud of having it as his flagship. Fast, well armed and stout for its size. The true dream of a rogue trader? Or a pirate; That is how the imps used to call them. Well, it was their problem if they couldn?t see the subtle difference there. ? The rogue traders of the Palman Cluster tended to favour trades that gave them the cargo they did bring back to their home systems as cheap as possible and piracy was one of such systems to get valuable goods for a cheap price. Obviously the Imperium didn?t see it in the same light but so was life in interstellar space. He was diving in these thoughts when an alarm did set him on alert at once. Imperial war vessels with at least one capital ship among them had been detected by the long range scans. The transport craft was recalled and the small incursion fleet did set itself in motion once again. The Storm Rider leading the Varek and Sirma squadrons out of the system. After setting up the formation with speed the traders did start their move to avoid the Imperial Navy. The imperials didn?t seem very willing to let them go away with their just collected cargo easily, though, and they started the pursue. (?) The Storm Rider raced past an other planet towards the jump point and changed course to avoid an other gas cloud. Looking at the screen in the bridge of his ship Zirkal raised an eyebrow. Those dogs were getting near. They should have been training in evasive manoeuvres since the last time he made a ?visit? the sector. He supposed that the gifts he collected last time were not a loss that the residents appreciated. He smiled at the thought. ?Do you wanna play followers of a dead hamburger? Let?s play then?. Zirkal opened his communications channel and shouted ?to all units: All Ahead Full! We are gonna teach that imperial scum what?s the true meaning of manoeuvring!? ?Shouts of confirmation coming from the escort squadrons that were travelling with the Storm Rider confirmed the reception of the message. ++++++++++++++++ To be continued.... Comments on style, content, background info, etc etc (whatever they are) appreciated. Cheers, Xavi ![]() |

Its good so far. I await the next part. Remember- another. One word. ![]() Also, Cybershadow has a fiction section on the website. He wants any submissions for it. At the moment there are about 4 stories (two are mine). I think its the Library section on the front page. |

Waiting for the ship I am designing (the storm raider) to be sorted out while passing across a hail of heavy plasma shots.... I would assume the BFG yahoo list to be broadside 20 or so with 2 to 4 lances added to the equation. Maybe even a little bit higher. If the ship survives the battering there we will go ![]() I will submit all my fluff when I work a little bit more on it. After vacations I suppose the first draft of the marines will be sent to Incoming! and the short stories to whatever section you want to place them in ![]() Cheers, Xavi |
