I thought the Eldar creamed everyone in the EoT campaign though? How come Eldrad died? I would have thought that the Eldar race would now be on the ascend again if it was to have a lasting result.

Tom, you whould know by now you should never try to make sense of anything GW does. I thought you had learned your lesson by now
But I agree, why kill of this guy? Why not a chapter master or some other high ranking guy? They killed off Tycho on Armageddon (But he did get his ass kicked across Armageddon). This is like killing off a commander after 100 sucerssive victories, it just doesn't make sense!
Cheers
Chris

Eldrad foresaw his own death in the piece in a previous WD on the EoT. Still, there are those in denial stating that he fragmented himself and spread himself across craftworlds.
It does seem a little dramatic that a character almost on a par with the Emp himself has gone.

...I guess this might be one of those built-in things that were mentioned at the start of the campaign- if certain worlds etc were lost, x character would die... However, while Eldard was a cool character, its good to see the storyline moving on- especially if there will be interesting new rules and fluff coming out..

I just want to see a race actually do well... everyone is stagnating with the exception of the Tau - can the Eldar or the Imperium not be on the ascent for a while?

FINALLY!! The git is dead!! Wohoo!! Sorry for anyone that liked the character but I found the mental oldie quite annoying. Finally they are starting to kill important characters. Hopefully Dante, Abbadon, Logan Grimnar and the Menta Hamburguer in the Huge Frige (AKA Emperor AKA Kentucky fried chicken) will follow in a short while, even if I don't bet on it. I like the story moving on. Now we only need those "everything I do is gorgeous because I am the best" characters to die in stupid ways like eldrad. I would love Dante geting shot in the head in a training session by mistake for example. LOL. *That* would be a fluff change As you might note I hate characters that are portrayed more or less as perfection incarnated. That definition suits quite some dudes around. I also hate Comissar Daunt for example, while Rawne or Cuu are great characters IMO. If you have read the Tanith books you will understand me.
Cheers,
Xavi

I second that. But they have just kept on piling "new threats" on the Imperium so long they apparently can't stop. I'm sick and tired of new threats. I would have loved to see the Abbadon get his tentacled butt kicked for good. I HATE Chaos. Yuck!

I have but I don't. I'm glad of what they did to the POOP Cuu in the latest book.
And without the Emperor there would be no Imperium so they won't kill him. In fact, I'd like to see him resurrected so the Imperium could get going for a chance.
And while I'm at it; I'd like to see the _Chaos Gods_ killed so I wouldn't have to put up with them any more...

It is a shame he's gone, for the fact that its such a nice model. it doesn't stop you using it, howeer.
It is good he's gone, as it now means the Eldar are due for a big shake up. I mean, to lose your most prominant commander cant go by without some kind of replacement. I'm looking forward to see what unfolds.
More Phoenix Lords? New Farseers? Better Avatar? New HQ options (princes etc)?

..Oh the possibilities eh.. Warp Spiders Phoenix Lord would get my vote, as well as a bigger Avatar!
..I can't say I understand what you mean either Xavi- Gaunt is a great character.. I do like Rawne tho- he adds a lot of interest, but Cuu was just a standard 'evil guy' that gets put into a lot of fiction for the sole purpose of having them mess things about and make the reader hate them...

Cheers,
Xavi | *Cough* Gaunt *Cough*
If you are going to slag the guy off, at least get his name right
Cuu? Maybe essential for some great storylines, but as character? He's a rapist/murderer with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Here's there to be hated.

Doh! Right, Gaunt
Cu is there to be hated, the same goes for Rawne in the first 3 books or so. I suppose I like the underdogs so I think they are great characters. Add more to the story than the "I am perfect and you aren't" kind of dudes.
Cheers,
Xavi
PS: I have read up to the 4th book, not the following ones so I have no idea on what abrett has done to Cuu, but given the preferences of the readers I expect his death to be truly horrible. Or as horrible as he has dared to write down. I suppose that plain gestapo tortyre techniques decription was not suited for the book even if it suits the empire by a large margin.
Cheers,
Xavi

Didnt he die and get incarcerated into a dreadnought a while ago. Some large battle. Might even have been the second war for Armageddon.
