As many of you probably know, FFG is releasing Wave 3 of their X-Wing line soon. While three of the ships were expected, the HWK-290 was somewhat of a surprise. I thought I’d share a list (inspired in part by vorpalsword over at Team Covenant) that I’m particularly looking forward to trying out. I’ll include the text on unreleased cards for convenience.

First Interplanetary Bank of Katarn (FIBoK)

The Banker – Kyle Katarn (21)
HWK-290, PS6, “At the start of the Combat phase, you may assign one of your focus tokens to another friendly ship at Range 1-3.”

The Stockbroker – Recon Specialist (3)
“When you perform a Focus action, assign one additional Focus token to your ship.”

The Vault – Moldy Crow (3)
“During the End Phase, do not remove unused Focus tokens from your ship.”

The Guard – Ion Cannon (5)

The Lender – Garvin Dreis (26)

The Borrowers – 2x Rookie Pilot (21 ea.)

So how does this play out? Katarn Focuses, giving him two tokens from the Recon Specialist. Being the nice guy he is, he hands one off to Garvin, who gains a second one from his own Focus action. Upon using the tokens, Garvin hands them off to either the Rookies for use, or to Katarn to store for later. If Garvin hands off both focus, you are effectively generating four additional focus tokens per turn, with the option to bank up to three of them per turn on the Moldy Crow.
This setup makes it easy to have any ship Focus while stressed, double Focus for defense, or Focus/TL for a particularly nasty strike. It does rely on Katarn being within Range 3 of Garvin (Range two if Garvin is going to pass tokens back) and Garvin being within Range 2 of the Rookies. While this is probably not a problem (we can’t know for sure until we see the HWK-290 maneuver dial) the somewhat low Pilot skills might be.
