Apologies if this is already being discussed in the Net E:A section, but as this pertains to 40k models and a forthcoming codex, I though here would be the most appropriate place for this post.

My reaction: meh. I was looking forward to seeing new Necron stuff, even if I'm not a player with that army.

Necrons should look evil, terryfying and technologically superior to anyone that ever existed.

Sadly, these look like cartoon robots that are trying to be skeletons :-[

Any other thoughts/reactions?

Deathmarks are an interesting variation on the basic necron design. I could be convinced by the ark, but not that floaty throne thing.

It won't be long before somebody puts those things in a Necron variant. And it won't be much longer after that when somebody starts customizing them on an Epic scale.

Anyone else seeing GW copying Raiders stuff again? Warbarque? Ark? The model looks way different, and yet...

I mostly like the various lords and the vehicles outside of the ginormous cannon version of the support barge. What I find idiotic though is the attempted variety in the heads by adding the cyclopes and cylon style eyes. These guys really should have just left the heads alone. It was one of the most iconic parts of the cron models. The added bulk and plating they've done should have been sufficient to refresh the look.

The ark model is definitely based on the old Jes sketches that are floating around but I wouldn't read much into warbarque vs ark.

Given the Warbarque really was based on those old sketches, it seemed a likely jump. They certainly borrowed enough of the Dark Eldar ideas. Not complainin' - just sayin'.

I think nearly all of them look awful! I'll be happy to stick with the current epic necron list myself.

The floaty throne thing (and it's gun variant) is the only model I like - I wonder if it could be used as the basis for an Epic Abattoir conversion?

Poor Oman! :( Personally I preferred lots of other armies to Necrons but I know you really liked them.

They look like a real wasted opportunity though. How could they do the Dark Eldar so fantastically well and these so poorly in a short space of time?

TBH I like the name better and it's not a huge leap to make the Warbarque the Ark in the list really. <shrug>

Some of the infantry stuff is interesting, but how interesting can a 6mm infantry figure be? Not terribly. It's the vehicle designs that are so disappointing and derisible. Look, if you hold it this way, it's a gun. And if you hold it upside down, it's a car! Now pretend this stick is a gun, pow pow! Why, I can make a hat or a brooch or a pterodactyl!

Edit - It doesn't help that the vehicles are gonna be an enormous pain in the rump to design for 6mm.
