Hey Wondering if any of you out there has played the new Kill team from the battlemissions book? If so would like some feedback.
At my LGS everyone loves it. Thats all we have been playing lately. Anyways give me some feedback.

We've played quite a bit. It's kind of fun but extremely difficult to get a workable list as codex marines and fairly easy to have some completely broken lists a other races. We've also found that we've had to work out some better assault rules and squad rules from regular 40k with transports and how attacks can be divided up.

See we try to keep vehicles out of it. There really is no need for vehicles in kill team. So we made up the rule from old combat patrol misson, no armor more then 33 counting front side and rear. It helsp a bunch, all you get now are buggies from orks really, sometimes a razorback.
So what about marines are broken? I think there is not much you can do with them. As you need ten models to buy a heavy weapon and special weapon. So really you get a tactical squad for the 200 points. unless you have house rules that allow heavy and special in squads first.
We don't allow shooting at seperate targets. Its better cause it makes you do target priority. But thats just one of those things that we do. If we didn't eldar would kill everyone. At least in theory.

ah, sorry, codex marines aren't broken... other lists can get some broken things like Space wolves.
Marines are limited to basically scouts + speeders/bikes/assault marines/vanguard/sternguard/dreadnought or taking a 5 man termi squad. You can also play around with a full tactical squad and a rhino or a sternguard/vanguard and razorback. most of the time shooting at separate targets doesn't come into play since it's rare that one individual has enough shots to effectively take down more than one target. Some stuff like dreadnoughts can though.
mainly the issues we've faced are how does everyone use the transport. They are bought as a squad but played as individual models. We just allow the entire squad to load up and disembark as normal.

We don't. Doing that you have a really big advantage. Most people that bring a razorback uses it for the fire support. Normal rules say that only one squad can be in a transport at one time, so by that then one model should only be able to fit in there. I know its kinda weird again GW didn't really think about all of this but, transports aren't needed in Kill team IMHO.
One thing we have tried with marines is letting them take heavy and special weapons without having to have the full ten man squad, but we uped the points by 5. So heavy bolter and the like are not free they are 5 points now and so on. it kinda helps balance them for being able to take them now. try it with you LGS buddies.
I play space wolves I agree they are mean but not unbeatable. What do people do with the wolves that its so hard to deal with?

Compared to what codex marines can bring they are much more versatile and decidedly difficult for codex to adjust for.
Yes, that's what normal rules say, but since you have to buy the squad and then the dedicated transport for that squad we decided that they can begin embarked in the transport if they want but they all have to exit and enter at the same time. Basically it works out to be that the coherency rules were removed to allow each unit to move and act separately despite still being part of the squad.

well if it works for you guys, make it so. But Try to make a kill team that has no vehicles and u will see its a much more fun game.
What do you guys do for leadership for the vehicles? Say if the razorback was the last thing on the board. Whats its leadership? We say its whatever is driving. eg. If an ork is driving a trukk then his leadership is 7. How do you do it?

We actually haven't exactly run into that situation, but we've just used the lowest LD value of whatever was on the table.

I'm honestly not very familiar with the new guard codex, could you explain what the rule does normally?

it allows you to take the platoons and combine them into one big platoon. So if you bought a platoon with a command and 4 squads of ten. You could combine the 4 squads into one 1 squad of 40 or 2 squads of 20 or even 1 squad of 10 and another squad of 30. The command is always seperate though.

no i dont think the combined thingy works in Kill Team because all models count as seperate so it wouldnt work also i made a nasty kill team of 1 sanguinary preist with jump pack and eternal warrior and assault marines with fleet. It is very nasy against chaos!

Somehow this slipped past me, I apologize for not responding sooner. I agree with Dan. Kill Team specifically has ll the models acting separately with movement shotting and attacking. I'd let them ride a transport together (provided they fit) but squads as listed in the codex under that rule wouldn't exist in kill team.

ok I understand what you are saying, yes they are seperate squads in kill team, but so are the squads in regular 40k. But if you use the rule then they form up into one big squad. So in theroy it really doesn't change any of the rules. 1 model is a squad in KT as to 10 in 40k. so I should be able to combine 4 in KT as to 40 in 40k. At least that is my thoery about it. I mean honestly KT is just a smaller 40k, each model is intended to be a whole squad and so forth.
Its not for me though, We have a guy that plays gaurd that was asking. Well thanks for the replys. Feel free to keep the replys coming.
