Hi

One of my projects for new year is Chaos. I want to tidy up my Iron Warriors for W40k and BFG and also do Warriors of Chaos for WFB. Now the new book is out it is worth me getting out figures that I last used shortly after the Storm of Chaos campaign.

I have the core of a 2,000 points Chaos Undivided army with couple units apiece of Warhounds, Marauders and Marauder Horse, with one unit of both Chaos Warriors and Knights.

I want to expand the list beyond 2,000 points by adding some Khorne or Slaanesh units.

Does anyone here play WoC in WFB? Or can recomend a good forum for WFB. Preferably one where players worry about theme/background just as much as whether something is points optimal.

The advice I was given at my local gaming club was to load up on Chaos marks and gifts/magic items. I am not sure if that fits in with my armies intended theme of literally a horde of Chaos mortals with loads of Marauders and Warriors.

Cheers

James

Hi

I could nt find any forums that appeared to be specific to WFB Chaos. But I did find Warhammer.org. Anyone a member? Is it worth joining for either tactical/painting advice?

Cheers

James

Thanks very much

I will head over their way later.

What sort of crowd ten to hang out there? Are we talking more the GW Fanboyz or like the guys here on TacComms? Are they more into points efficient min-maxed tournie lists or the army background/theme?

Cheers

James

I'm a longtime member of warhammer.org, and it has it's plusses and minuses. The painting forum is fantastic, with literally some of the world's best painters as regular posters. There are great tips and guides etc as well.

The warhammer forum however is very tournament led, with most discussions on minute interpretations of the rules. There is something of a mentality that touraments are all that matter, and that relaxed, friendly aren't all that important. Conequently, people are constantly arguing about whether armies ar ballanced or broken when taken to their extremes. It gets a little tiresome.

Sorry I'm not sure... not a member and haven't used it. One of it's sister sites 'The Daemonic Legion' I did a wee bit though. Pretty good for modelling and ideas, though tournament minmaxing debates grow stale fast as zombo says.

OK thanks guys. Will use for painting advice and just stick to fielding what looks cool ir fits my intended army theme (load of Warriors and Marauders with few special units or Marks).

Cheers

James

Oh, kinda like the Tau forums here, then.

I've heard really good things about the new Marauder horsemen plastics (5 models in box, but 17 different heads alone)...

Hi

The new plastic Marauder horse look a bit large to me. Less the rugged ponies and more shire horses. Thata aside they look great and the options on sprue will allow me to vary up all my units a bit.

The new Chaos Battalion is very impressive. Nice models and reasonable value for money, especially if dont pay full list price.

Cheers

James

Imagine the Tau forums if there was no way of changing the Tau rules, yet everyone still fought about it all the time anyway. Just as frustrating, twice as pointless.

The Marauder Horsemen plastics are great IMHO, as are the plastic chaos knights. The head options alone in the horsemen are worth the price, to be able to replace the ugly heads on the standard marauders.

Oh, so more like the B&C (Technically Bolter and Chainsword, more often B**** and Complain), then.

Good to hear, I need to convert some SW scouts, have them look mean and feral.

James, worry not about getting a ridiculously min-maxed list. If all else fails I'm getting a warhammer army painted up anyway and I'm terrible at warhammer so you'll have someone to beat. :)

Hi Colin

Actually my point was that I did nt want a min maxed list. I just wanted advice on sensible combinations of weapons/armour/Marks.

The initial advice I got from Andy down the club was to take complete mixtures of Marks. But this is coming from someone who gives a collar of Khorne to a Tazeentch sorceror. Which under the new army list you can do. It just feels wrong to me.

Whereas the kind of level of advice I wanted was if I was to add a new unit of Chaos Warriors with Mark of Khorne, should I go with shields, additional weapons or halberds.

Cheers

James

Cheers
