We have a decision to make before Mr. Boyce does the fixed, official print.

You have seen the current design. I offer its 3D model for reference.

Mr. Boyce thinks the features are not exaggerated enough, so I have made an alternative form.

What do you, (yes you!), think would look better?

It seems the only thing that was really giving trouble was the rivets. so I vote the first one, though perhaps if the relief was exaggerated along with a slight size increase it would work too. The second one seems too over the top and cramped.

My opinion is that the rivets should be the same size as those on an E40k Chimera track. The same thing with the hatch, it should be the same size as the ones on the Basilisks currently. After that, the other details can be sized which ever way looks best.

I would stick with the first one, to make the rivets as small and FW-like as possible.

I went back to the first one and exaggerated the rivets to .33mm in diameter, .33mm long, which is the size of rivets on E40K and SG Imperial Guard vehicles.

Todd Boyce is printing the enclosure (apparently the machine is fixed). Printing should finish this evening. Investment casting is tomorrow.

No recent communications from David Mihail.

Does anybody want to purchase a slightly-measured 28mm scale Medusa?

You will notice some rivets missing along the top. Todd explained that is due to the Z-axis bond being weaker than the XY plane bond of the plastic particles.

What this means is that narrow cylinders running up and down have a chance of being knocked off during the post-production phase when the support material is removed from the pattern.

My future rivets will be slightly conical, I think, rather than the cylindrical .33mm diameter by .33 tall.

Since the investment cast will be bronze, I (or somebody actually skilled at greenstuff) can add missing rivets, if deemed necessary.

Looks real good O-man, even without the rivets.  FYI, these guys might be able to help:

http://www.archertransfers.com/catSurfaceDetails.html

They're like 3d decals. .36mm would be pretty close I'd guess. 60 micrometers isn't that big after all.

It really is a work of art, O-man. I think I'm going to have to learn computer sculpting - I really want to have a play with something like this!

Regards,
Reaver
