you have to get it (and I don't even play 40k IG)

I will certainly be buying the next volume (and that's SM and SoB)

it is the best thing GW have ever ever done (and I even think it is better than Talisman.... well maybe not)

???

Given that Jimbo is a nice guy and his post are always well reasoned and worded, I dont think he fits the demographic of a GW sales rep.... }:)

Hi!

Oh I like tanks, but in 6mm, which is the only scale you can really represent a large tank battle with the usual space and minis most people can have and afford.

I've met people with 10-12 40k scale leman russes, FW baneblades and 40k scale titans and although they'll never get them all on the table they continue to buy more.

It seems beyond them that they aren't playing in the "correct" scale.... :;):

Primarch

Of course 6mm is the only scale for REALLY large tank battles. However, I still like to have the tanks around in 28mm even if it is not "realistic".

Recently I found myself annoyed by a comment in the stargrunt rules that there shouldn't be tanks present at all in the 28mm scale since they would have engaged each other at ranges beyond the gaming board. Phew! There are plenty of examples in the "RealWurld" about close range tank fights (a small battle in an unknown place named Prokhorovka comes to mind..). :;):

And to jab you a little; do YOU ever get HALF your CURRENT epic stuff on the table at once? And yet you still buy more... :p ?:;): ?

oh no my secret is out

my real name is Jervis Johnson...

or is it Rick Preistly...

or Bryan Ansell....

:D

the reality is that I like a good product and the book is a good product. If I don't like a product then I won't buy it.

Between 1985 and 1991(ish) I purchased basically every game and book GW published.

After 1991 I was discontented with the way the products were going (very cartoonish for my liking) and the attitude of GW staff in their shops and the prices that I switched over to other games and systems (such as Dirtside and Flintloque). It was only Epic40K which brought me back into GW products and then only as they were half-price in one of the GW sales...

The first GamesDay I ever attended was in 2001, though for many years I would go to Salute every year (last time was 1992 I think).

I certainly do not fit the GW fanboy image (and I hope nobody thinks I am a fanboy), what I would say check out my site look at my Flintloque figures, my Star Trek ships and my Dirtside articles and make your own decision.

PS Buy the FW Book, it's really really GOOD.

Depends on whether you are primarily 1) a modeler or 2) a gamer.

In case 1) Yes.
In case 2) No.

There are not enough new rules to merit the purchase from purely gaming POV.

I would still get it even if you are a gamer as the army list and ammo rules make it worth it...

I still think ?45 is too steep price for one armylist and the ammo rules.

Probably true Mojarn, but I cant really see the point in collecting 40k stuff if you're not interested in the fluff etc.... I know some people do, but thats just not my style.. and seriously, the IA book will get people interested in the fluff.. and they can always just look at all those superb pictures otherwise... :;):
