The paint job is nice although I'm still not convinced it sells the model as well as it could have. It coule be the pic but I'd probably add more white to the cracks to make it look even more white hot. Also it'd be interesting to see some painted on light effects where the inner glow touches the outer parts of the body. The deepenss of the cracks could be a problm as it produces natural shadow - counterproductive when you actually want the cracks to look as if they're glowing. Buyers might consider filling in some of these cracks with some kinf of thin filler and then wipe off the excess to make the edges visible again.

The LOTR Balrog had a similar concept, but it was done far better than the Av.

I agree with Chroma. ?I'm thinking something like:

Hey Neal! ?We've been agreeing a lot lately... we've got to pick something new to fight about... *laugh*

And I think the new Great Unclean One later on in the pictures CyberShadow found is amazing!

Yeah, I like the Avatar - the thing I like best about him is that he looks much more eldar-like in physique.

Still, I agree with Ragnarok - the first thing I thought when looking at it was that he looks a bit like his skin is fallin apart... Still, it's very nice all the same.

Well, no luck there. I think the GUO looks phenomenal as well.

I'm sure we'll find something to fight over soon, though.  It's practically inevitable among this crowd...  :p

Fantastic! ?Exactly how the Avatar should look. ?Forge World do it again!

Now, let's get them to make some more stuff for Epic! :;):

Aye, I like this model.  Reminds me a lot of the original, which I always thought looked far scarier than the current metal model even if its size didn't match the in-game abilities.

Let's hope the stats match the model in the new codex. ?:)
WS 10, BS 10, W 10, T10, A10, I10! Please! ?:;):

Unlikely - the stats are (from what I hear) roughly comparible to those of a Keeper of Secrets (perhaps with a slight edge). Which is exactly what they should be!

Still, I'm sure Forgeworld will come up with some silly stats for their version, as they've done with the GDs...

It is a nice model and paint job ... the "Balrog" paint should be the way to go !

I must admit that I dont like the paint job on the Avatar after more inspection. The contrast is too great for my taste. I would prefer to see more red on the skin sections, where the lava is shining through, and a darker yellow in the cracks. This would also stop the mini being so dark.

I agree, it's not painted that good in my opinion.

Nice model, but I think the legs need to be more dynamic... I like the lava effect, though my vision of the Avatar has always been more red than yellow. I don't think i'd feature any yellow, I just want a dull red glowing through the cracks.

I would agree with the others who dislike the large cracks.

That would be irony that the huge cracks was due to a FW worker drop it than glue it back together badly and the staff said hey that isn't such a bad idea...

This is a better paint job - and fast to get to EBay!

After revisiting it several times, I don't think I like the pose.  It's closer to an afternoon stroll than a bloody-handed god intent on committing murder.

I'd like to see pictures of the pieces (like they gave of the Keeper of Secrets) to figure out how much flexibility there would be in the pose.

Personally, I also really like the Wailing Doom as a spear.  I'm thinking that the sword on the GW model might be about right to pass as a large-ish spearhead (almost a glaive) for the FW model but that pose might still be very problematic.

I don't know - draw back the sword arm a bit, reangle the fist and put the spear through angled forward and I think it would look very natural - just about to throw or spear some unfortunate target!
